How to extend Luteal Phase?

I know I have previously read some posts about things (herbs, vitamins, etc) that might help extend the luteal phase. Mine appears to have reduced to 8-9 days two cycles in a row now. I think I remember maybe vitamin B6, is that correct and does anyone know how much to take? Anyone tried anything that worked?

Thanks for your help!

I'm not familiar with any herbal remedies, so maybe some of the other ladies on the board can help you with those.

I do know the hormone progesterone, taken after ovulation, can help to extend your luteal phase and to improve the chances of a successful implantation. You could look for the progesterone cream, or you could ask your doctor for a prescription for progesterone pills.

Good luck to you!

Try a B6 capsule from the day you ovulate through your period. ALso drink 2-4 cups of red raspberry LEAF tea every day. IT worked for me, I urge you to try this before trying any prescriptions and such through your doctor, they are usually expensive to your wallet and your health.

I have heard that you should be taking the B6 in conjunction with a B complex vitamin to avoid complications....namely consitpation. Be sure to research and "natural" remedies before starting them! GL to you!

I've read that Vitex is a good natural extender. It stimulates the pituitary (sp) so it creates more Progesterone to help legthen your luteal phase.

I'm not very familiar with it,but I'm starting to look at natural remedies before moving to presciption meds!

Good luck

I highly recommend trying natural remedies before going on progesterone. I am currently on prometrium and do not like it. It gave me many side effects which I thought were pg symptoms, swollen bbs, bloating all over, frequent urinating, headaches, dizziness, cramps etc. I stopped them at 12 DPO and I am still waiting for AF to show, I am currently at 15 DPO and according to my RE it could take up to 2 weeks for AF to show after stopping progesterone. I wish they would of told me that before I started them.

So be careful on what you decide, try the natural remedies first!

Good luck to you!!
