Too hot??

Hi,

I was just wondering if working outside in the summertime would lower my DH's count?

My husband works construction, and has to wear pants all day. Would this have any effect on his sperm count?

Thanks,

Suzanne

Hi there!

I know heat can be a problem, but I don't know about someone who has to work outside all day. Hot baths, hot tubs and briefs are not recommended for men who are involved in the TTC process, but I don't know about a guy who has to be in the heat all day. At the very least he should wear boxers and have showers instead of baths.

I've heard of men having to use ice packs..."down there"... but I think it's only at the advice of a doctor who has determined that low sperm count and motility are an issue. You could always ask your doctor and see what he/she says. It may not be a problem at all unless he has a problem to begin with. But I could be wrong. I'd ask just in case, that way you know and can deal with it before you waste too much time.

Good luck!
