Hello!

I am sure most of you have read my desperate posts these past few weeks.....and today I am finally going to get to see the Dr.!

I am now on cycle day 59!

I have tested negative on 6 different occasions all FRE tests, except one walgreens brand.

I have constant lotiony CM with ewcm mixed in sometimes.

My bb's are sore off and on and I get AF type cramps off and on.

I even think I am starting to have imaginary morning sickness now! LOL

I am a mess if you cant tell!

What I really need help on is I have no idea what all I need to ask my doctor today. I told the scheduler that we have been TTC for 14 mo.'s now, so she scheduled me for my yearly exam and a "consultation". I am going to ask for tests, but what should they be?

Any advice?

Thanks for your help everyone!

Stephanie

Hi Stephanie,

I just wanted to wish you luck with your appointment. It would be a good idea to write your questions down before you go...and that way, you won't forget anything. I did that when I had my consultation with my doctor, and it really helped. I know I would have forgotten things without it, because my head was kinda spinning with all the info! Also, if you have charts, print them out and take them for your doc to see.

I'm not sure about ALL the tests to ask for...but I would recommend asking for a TSH, Progesterone (Now and After you O), Estrogen level, testosterone level, prolactin level...I know there are others, but I just can't remember what. Hopefully someone else will know.

You might want to ask about taking Provera for a few days to kickstart AF...so you can hopefully get on a new cycle and regulate. My doc did that for me when AF was refusing to come visit in April...it worked VERY well, and I've been regular ever since.

I hope things go well for you! Keep us posted...

Here is to hoping you get a big +++++ from the Doctor.

Lets see good questions, the last poster hit a bunch right on.

How about asking the Dr. their course of action/treatment for us *slow starters* Make sure it is in line with how you want to be treated, or as quickly as you want to be treated etc? Maybe they are the "wait and see" types and you may want to find a new Dr. who will be more aggressive. Or maybe they will want to be too aggressive.... Thats all my fuzzy brain can come up with right now.

GOOD LUCK!!!!!!

Hi, Stephanie,

I am in a similar boat to you. I went off BCP last December and have not O'd or had AF on my own since. I finally went to my doc in June for the "consultation." She was concerned because I had not had AF and also because I was irregular before BCP, so she did some blood tests for hormone levels: thyroid, prolactin, estrogen and others. These all came back in normal ranges. Then she prescribed Provera to induce AF and referred me to an RE-reproductive endocrinologist--for further tests. I couldn't get in to see the RE until Sept 2--next week, yeah! So I'll be able to give you more info from that after it happens.

For the consultation, I would let her know all the info that you can--symptoms, dates, any charts that you have, etc.. This will help her to make informed decisions for your case. If she doesn't suggest them, request blood tests for hormone levels. This is usually the first thing to check, as thyroid and hormones can mess up your cycles. PCOS (Polycystic ovarian syndrome) is something else that I've seen a lot of mention of here, but I don't know much about it. You might want to ask about that, too. For a first visit, that is probably all they will get in. Other things I've seen people here get are HSG (to check for blocked tubes) and some have been prescribed Clomid to help them O or progesterone to help them lengthen their LP. If your doctor is a general practitioner or not a specialist in fertility, you may want to ask for a referral to an RE if you feel that you are not getting enough action taken.

Hope this helps you to know what to expect. I'll be posting about my visit next Tuesday, probably under the SOI.

GL! Most of all, don't be afraid to be pushy to get what you want. You pay the doctor not the other way around! Sit your butt in the chair and refuse to leave until you are satisfied with the results of the visit.

Everyone is hitting the nail on the head about what to do. Just remember it's your body, the doctor needs to listen to you. I have a spiral notebook that I keep and write questions in so I'm prepared to go to the doctor.

Good Luck today!!

Steph,

I want to wish you lots of luck. Ask for anything and everything that can help you figure out what is going on with your cycle (FSH, Progesterone, any other bloodwork). Be aggressive if you have to be (but I hope you have a nice, understanding doc).

We're thinking about you!
