Does thermometer type matter?

I went out and got a flexible digital thermometer yesterday that ended up not even turning on at all this morning so I've missed yet another day of charting. Now I'm wondering if the type of thermometer you use matters? Can I just use any kind at all? One safety kit that I got as a gift for my dd after she was born came with a cheapie digital and I'm thinking of using that. Would that be OK or do I need some special "basal" thermometer (whatever that means)? And if I start temping tomorrow (for the first time ever!) that would be 2 days after AF ended. What do you all think the chances are that I would still be able to tell if I O this cycle... Thank you for ANY input!!!

go by what my dr. says and use a bbt (Basel Body Thermometer). I believe the bbt will register temps lower then a normal thermometer. You are not to late since AF has just left. Make sure you take your temp at the same time everyday and before you get out of bed or have any activity. The website FertilityFriend.com has a handbook that is
very useful and you can get a 30 day trial of charting for free. Hope this helps some.
Good Luck.
The FF charting is always free, you just won't get all the special features that you do when its paid for or in the 30 day trial.
Good luck charting and don't hesitate to post it when you have questions.
