Hi ladies! I have almost missed 2 AF's in a row now. I had a dr. appt. this week, but I really didnt get any answers. (I have a *new* dr. that I am going to see Sept 10th - can't wait!)

But, my main concern is that I havent seen AF since June 29th.....I am worried.

My cycles are usually pretty normal - 28 - 35 days.

My last cycle was a little shorter and lighter than normal also.

Can anyone ease my mind here? Or are there things that maybe I should be concerned about?

Thanks for all your help!

Stephanie

Have a great weekend!!

I would ask to have your thyroid checked. That is what happened to me last year. Do you have any other odd symptoms. Weight gain/loss, brittle nails, losing hair, sensitivity to hot or cold.

It's just a thought!

Yes, I actually have most of those symptoms! I will definitely have the dr. check my thyroid! After having it checked, did they put you on meds, did your period come back? Did symptoms change?

Wow, this is interesting....

Thanks so much for writing me back!

Hi Stephanie,

Well, my case is similiar to yours although I have not actually "missed af" I just thought I was going to miss August but low and behold it started. I did go to the dr's myself last week before I did start (ironically enought I started af the day I went to the dr's--go figure) but since I quit the bcp back in March this year, it's been really long (for me from a steady 28 day cycle for 11 yrs.) so it ranges now from 30-34 days, being 32-34 for the norm each month. Although, w/o af, I do not believe that you're ov as well. Have you just recently come off bcp? My doc says that will cause no af and should return shortly, within a few months once your body adjusts without bcp in your system. I had all testing done, i.e., thryoid, all horomone levels and they all came back just fine. My dilemma was, I thought and still think I am having af's w/o ov each month (which is possible) I just don't have normal signs of ov like everyone else, i.e., cm, a swinge of pain in lower ab, and cervix feeling pretty low and hard each month (I check it myself with fingers..sorry tmi) but who knows, maybe I am and just don't know it right? So, to be sure, I went out and bought the Clearblue Easy Fertility Monitor and this is my first month using it. Right now, I just came off af, so I cd 8 hoping to ov on cd 14-20 (I leave that long range do to the length of my cycles, I could ov any time sooner or later than that) so that is what this great monitor is for. So far, I still have "low fertility" according to the monitor but just coming off af, thats normal since I am not mid-cycle yet.

In a nut shell, go get testing done and had I not started af when I did, my doc was going to put me on a drug called Provera to "force a bleed" it does work but it's kind of a fake bleed, if you will but it should bring on ov too.

Hope this helps, e-mail with any other q's.

Good luck.

Another great point about your "old" Dr. Basic bloodwork would pick up a problem thyroid, yet she didn't even order any
