I don't know the answer to your question, but have you considered One-a-Day brand Women's formula? It has 400mcg of folic acid, the amount recommended for most women (most prenatals contain 800mcg). It also has 100% RDI of Vits C, D, E, B1, B2, B6, B12, Iron and Zinc, along with 45% of your calcium RDI. I've been taking these since we started TTC, with no adverse impacts.

I know higher dosages of Vit A can hinder the absorption of calcium. Beyond that, I'm no expert on vitamins...

Good luck to you!

When I was pg I could not take my prenatal vitamins because they made me sick as well. My DD has those gummy bear vitamins and my OB said that was just fine as long as I was taking something that had the folic acid in it. It is ok to take the other, just make sure you're getting your recommended dose of folic acid. Hope this helps

Have you thought about taking the vitamins before you go to bed? I can't take normal vitamins because they upset my tummy - I'm weird I know! - and when I talked to my DR she told me to take them at night or with food. That way if they make you sick it's when you're asleep!

I just wanted to say that the folic is what is really important right now with TTC. So long as you are getting the proper amount of folic, I don't think the other stuff matters so much at this point. I'm not sure about your other questions.

O.k. me and the gals here at work were just discussing this. I have a prob with my vitamins because they either make me sick or constipated. And I was told the Iron and B vitamins could cause that. So lately I just haven't been taking vitamins cause I don't need to be constipated because I am not an everyday person anyway.

I take and have heard many good thing about Rainbow Lite Pre-natal vitamins. They are "all natural" vitamins I know that sounds silly but I think they are from all natural sources, not chemical sources. I have a very delicate tummy and I've taken them in the morning on an empty tummy and never gotten sick.

They are available at the health food stores or online, there are two kinds, a once a day and a multiple pill type.

I've heard of many many people getting sick on the prescription or OTC prenatals vitamins, but not with the Rainbow Lites.

Here's a thought too... I take Rainbow Vitamins because they are food based instead of synthetic. Until now I hadn't thought about what pre-natal were made of. I'm sure though if they have 2000% anything, they are synthetic based. I don't know how anything can have any % over 100 as 100% is one whole! I know how they do it- it's concentrated amounts... but food based vitamins are better (IMHO) than synthetic, so see what you're taking and really try taking them at night that way you won't get sick from them :)
