Endometriosis?????????

Hey guys...I mean ladies! Well, today is CD 4 already. I have heard that endo is hard to diagnose sometimes but I was wondering if any of you have it and if so: what were your symptoms? How was it diagnosed? And what is being done about it to help you TTC?

The reason I am asking is because the past few months...the first and second day of AF is excruciatingling painful. Friday (cd 1) wasn't too bad but Saturday was AWFUL! I went shopping with a friend and we kept having to stop so I could sit down because I was hurting so bad. I could barely walk because a couple of times I would double over. It is usually like that and it always involves me having to go #2. It hurts so bad to go that I like have to hang on to the tub and the sink! I know this is TMI, but after I go the stools are soft, not hard so I can't figure out why it hurts so bad and feels like my guts are going to come out too. It is like something is ripping inside. I take Midol and it knocks me out but I feel better when I wake up. It is only the first couple of days. I don't know if this is anything like endo or not but does anyone else have the same problem? It is time for my annual exam so I will definitely mention it to my OB/GYN. Advice? Suggestions? Experience? Thanks N advance and sorry for the TMI!

(past pg, birth ment)

Sheree, I have/had endo, and your symptoms sound EXACTLY like mine. This may get a little long, so forgive me in advance.

I started TTC in April 2000. In June 2000 I had excrutiating pain and stayed overnight in the hospital for evaluation. AF came about 2:00 am with even more pain and I had to have pain killers to sleep. The doc could not diagnose, but decided it was probably a ruptured cyst. Every month after that, AF was unbearably painful. This all started out of the blue after being off BCP for about a year. My gyn thought it was irritable bowel, but I wasn't pg yet and made an appt with an infertility doc bc I thought it was endo after some reading about it.

Good news! I did not ever have to go see the infertility doc bc I got pg with no medical intervention. Found out very early Dec2000. I ended up having a C-section (too small pelvis to deliver after quite a bit of pushing) and the doc discovered that I did have endo, and it had caused a uterine ligament to twist around, turning my uterus to the side 90 degrees. Still, the baby was in the right position and everything. My colon was also attached to my uterus (prob why the symptoms were so bad with bowel movements -TMI!!!) The thing about endo is that your pain level does not correspond with how bad it is. It is WHERE the endo is that makes it hurt, not how bad it is. It is very treatable, usually through laparascopy. I had some of mine removed and everything put back in its place during my c-section (at least that was one good thing about having a surgical delivery).

I believe there is an endo message board you may want to check out. If you do have it, don't worry bc you still have a very good chance of conceiving. GL to you, hun, and I am so sorry you are going through all the pain. I know it is very hard to deal with.

(((((Hugs))))),

Hi there!

I have endo and my symptoms sound just like yours. I started noticing problems after I had a m/c in '99. Every period felt like I was having another m/c. With the m/c they gave me Toradol at the hospital... so I continued to take it every month. That's the only thing that touches the pain for some reason. And I never did find anything to help with going to the bathroom. Also, as time went on I started getting more and more motion sickness. I never used to have this problem.. then it got so bad I was throwing up.

Eventually my gyn thought it might be endo.. and so did I after reading up on it. I wanted a lap, but my gyn thought that I should just try 6 months on Lupron instead. I wish I would have stuck to my guns! The side effects were awful and when it was all done I felt just as bad as before. But still my gyn wouldn't do the surgery. He had me try several months of Clomid.. more yucky side effects and it didnt even get me to ovulate. So finally this past May I got my lap. The gyn found stage 3/4 endo and both ovaries were stuck to my colon with adhesions (hence the bathroom problems) and they were enlarged with cysts. He got it all cleaned up and I'm now ovulating, but I still have severe endo pain. And the scar tissue on my colon makes gas and bm's very painful. For a couple of monthts after the lap I didn't have any motion sickness.. but that's back now too!

I'm sorry if this was TMI! But I say all that so you'll understand why I say.... don't wait... talk to your doctor. A lap is rough but it's the only way they can tell what's going on in there and it's not nearly as rough as waiting and letting it get worse and effect your fertility. Endo effects everyone so differently.. it's hard to tell who has it. But be proactive and read all you can about it. That's the best advice I can give! I hope you feel better soon!!!

Hi!

I also have terrible period pain. My period lasts for three days and at the beginning only the first day was awful, now it is two days. I take the maximum amount of Ibuprofen for about one day and a half and still I hardly can wait to take the next dose.

My ginocologyst told me that the only way to find out is by surgery and since I'm TTC#1 she said I should wait to see if I can conceive. If you are able to conceive and you can more or less live with the pain, then you should be okay... I've read that sometimes it can get worse but sometimes it can get better naturally.

My MIL used to have endo too and she had very bad pain and also her periods would be very heavy, and they woould come with coagulated blood and stuff... very ugly.

I understand what you mean when you say that you have to go to the bathroom... I just feel like squeezing and I have soft #2 too. Very icky... but that's the truth. However I think that's part of the same thing...

Also, if it makes you feel better, my mom used to have very bad periods too and she conceived her first child, my brother, the first time she had sex.... So go figure...

I'm kind of worried with endo but I think we shouldn't worry for now and if after actively trying to conceive for about 9 months, we are nowhere... then we should ask our doctor. Good luck to you!

URhg! Sounds aweful Sheree, I'm so sorry hon. It does sound like what I've heard about endo...I beleive the only way to diagnos it is through a lap.(investigative surgery) and the Dr would, if he sees any, coterize it at the same time. What the effects are to TTC, I'm not sure- I think it can perhaps block your tubes. Best thing is to talk to your Dr about it- stress the pain that you go through as it is not normal.

GL to you sweetie!(((((((((((((((HUGS))))))))))))))))))))))))

Ladies, I have been on BCP for 6 years but I always get these terrible knots and acheing in my very lower back and also right before my AF I feel like I have constipation and finally after AF starts my bowel relax and I can go. Very normal, and not soft bowels! TMI! Sorry Do you think that this could be a symptom of ENDO? I know BCP helps with the ENDO, but I am going off BCP in November to TTC #1 and am very worried. To make matter worse my mother has ENDO. I haven't asked her about it yet but I am very concerned. I do remember having very heavy period with medium cramps before the BCP.

Thanks for all of your input ladies. I am thinking that I am going to go to the RE that my OB/GYN referred me to. Maybe I can get more out of her. THanks again for all the help. I will keep everyone updated when I know more!

I had endo and have had three surgeries for it. It started when I was 15, and I am now 20. The first time there was too little to remove, the 2nd time it was tehre but the lazers didnt work and they couldnt get it out. It just kept getting worse and worse then the night before my 3rd surgery I prayed for healing because I knew that even if they got it all there would be scar tissue and I may not be able to have children. Well, after my 3rd surgery they told me it disappeared. The docs couldnt explain it. Praise the Lord! Because of taht experience, I know the Lord wants me to have kids, so there is no reason for me to get upset yeat because I havent concieved. (easier said than done)

I had pain with #2, but it was always soft. I had 2 periods a month and coulnt go on bc because it made me sick. I had terrible leg pain and back pain, and I was also told that it was IBS at first. I also had shooting pains through my bottom and vagina, it was weird, but the doc said that since I had leg pain and the shooting pain it mean that it was all low in my uterus. Anyway, its gone now and I dont have any problems with my periods. This month she showed up and I didnt even feel her comming! Its amazing! I hope the same happens for youand good luck!

Oh, dont worry, my mom had it as well and conceived 2 kids, one while she was even on the pill!
