And So The Journey Begins

Hello Everyone,

My DH and I have just made the almighty decision to start a family and so starts possibly the most amazing journey of our lives. I have been off the pill for 1.5 years and although we were not TTC, I am still a little worried that no little 'accidents' or even a scare has happened during this time. But now, it's for real- TTC seems as though it will be a very trying (yet exciting) time- of course, we are both up for the challenge.

I am looking for other people who have just started the journey also (C1, CD 10), people to share the highs and lows with that will undoubtably unfold. I am living in Australia and have not found any sites that allow for such contact to take place. It would be lovely to share my thoughts and somewhat- uneducated questions with others who are in a similar boat.

Your replies would be great!

Thanks Guys,

Kylie

Hi Kylie!!

Welcome to the Board! I haven't been here long, but I have found the ladies here are very supportive.

My DH and I decided in July to stop taking BCPs and to let nature take its course. We didn't get pg my first cycle off, but it seemed to be pretty normal according to Fertility Friend. I am now on cd32 of cycle 2 and waiting for AF to arrive (she's due any day now, but no symptoms yet!!). Sorry we aren't at the same point in our cycle, but I'm sure someone will be!

Good Luck on your TTC journey. Hope it is nice and SHORT!

HI!

I am TTC#1 too. This is my C2/CD10 so I'm warming up for a busy week BDing. Last month I was pretty disappointed that I was not pregnant and I'm still a little bit scared because I have painful periods and they say that's an endometriosis symptom. So I'm here touching wood and I'm also very happy that I found this board. It is helping me a lot. I see now things in perspective and I have realized that it is okay not to become pregnant the first cycle you try. Welcome aboard and we'll be in touch!

Thanks for the reply. I have just started charting on Fertility Friend also. I have been researching every source available and have found some fantastic information on the net. Can you recommend any other valuable sites?

Hi Kylie,

I'm pretty close to you in the cycle. This is c1, cd9 for me. We just recently made the decision to try for #2 (so I'm pretty new to this board, but not new to ivillage).

I'm sure the ladies here will be of great support and advice! Just post questions and anyone who knows something will answer. Also another great resource is the book "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" by Toni Weschler. It's a great book! Tells you so many things about your cycle and how you can learn more about it. I read it 5 years ago while TTC #1 and I'm starting to read it again as a refresher. Good luck!

Thanks Pam for your reply. I have had others suggest the same book so it seems to be a winner. Good luck on your journey also and will no doubt bump into you again via the board.

Dear Kylie- I can completely share the concern with not really trying, but not preventing over the course of a long relationship with my husband. We had decided this March after my annual to "try", but have not been successful yet. Have you talked to your doctor yet about your concerns? My doctor told me that my husband and I have probably been "more careful" than we thought and to continue trying for up to a year before they will have us look into infertility treatments. Maybe your case is along the same lines? Although I can completely understand where you are coming from...I always wonder how all of the "accidental" pregnancies occur when those of us who feel we are ready, have to wait that much longer. I wish you good luck with ttc!
