First time getting trigger shot

Hi everyone,
We have two kids and second time having to use a iui to become pregnant. With my son I did not use meds or injectables. This time I used letrozole day 3-7 and had a trigger on cycle day 12. How will these meds affect any tests I may try to take after my 2ww is up. I really don't know anything about this stuff.

Also did anyone get sick using these? Ever since starting the letrozole I have been feeling sick to my stomach and tired. It feels like morning sickness but obviosly couldn't be pregnant before I ovulate. I'm assuming its just my hormones kicking my butt.

Thanks

Hi Meghan,

I had an IUI with Letrozole (Femara) and the trigger shot of hCG last month and was told by my doc that I should NOT poas until a full 2 weeks after the IUI. She said that the hCG will give you a false positive if you test before that. She also added that to be on the safe side, to only test on the day AF is due...and then test and re-test. I tested on the 2 week day and got a bfp on one test and a bfn the second test-- AF arrived the next day. :o(

I'm going for my 2nd IUI with Letrozole (and trigger shot) today. Hopefully I'll have better results this time. :o)

As for s/e from Letrozole (the first round) I was super sleepy and had pg symptoms like nausea and food aversions. I THOUGHT that it didn't make me emotional or irritable... but DH said otherwise! haha! The second round, I was a little emotional/irritable but not too bad. I don't have the sleepiness this time...so that's nice. :o)

I'm sending you P&PT for a BFP this month!!! I hope it works for you!!! :o) Good GOOD luck!!

~Danielle

I'm 38 and have been trying to conceive since July 2008. I had my first IUI with Femara on Feb 4th and AF (the meanie) showed up. Try and try again! :o) I was lucky enough to find my Mr. Perfect 2 years ago and we have 2 goofy but lovable pups! :o)

Hi guys!! I have no info to offer, as this will be my 1st cycle of TTc with Femara (starting tomorrow) and a Trigger shot & IUI. I just thought it'd be neat to have others to chat with who are in the same boat! Even if I am a few weeks behind! How soon after the trigger shot are they doing your IUI's? They told me that on about CD 11 I will go in for another US to check follicle size...I have my 1st tomorrow, so

Hi Karen,

When you go in for your 1st u/s they'll guide you through the process. If your follies are 20 and above they'll probably do the trigger shot either that day or the next and then your IUI will be the following day.

Good luck!!! I hope you get a BFP on the first try!! :o)

Welcome,
I had my ultrasound on day 12 and my follicle was a 25 so I got my trigger shot then. She said after the trigger they like to do it 24-36 hours later. I just had my IUI on day 14(march 1st) in the am. Just a warning the Femera made me kinda sick to my stomach and alittle cranky!! Kinda like morning sickness, nice huh I got to feel like I was pregnant without being pregnant. We had a IUI with my son and it only took two cycles, but I think I missed my O the first time but that was three years ago with a doctor who just said show up when you ovulate and I O'd on a weekend and they didnt do any infertility stuff on weekends. Im hoping first times a charm this time. We had our IUI on what would have been my grandfathers 93 birthday. He just passed away so maybe it was a sign.

I hope it works for you!!! I am so worried about the timing of everything b/c I am a nurse and only work Saturdays & Sundays....so I don't get many weekends off, and am not due for a weekend off for awhile, and I just KNOW my IUI will end up on a Sat or Sun! LOL! I am trying to recruit co-workers to possibly fill in for me if I do have to miss half a day of work.....I am trying to guesstimate and its nice to know how soon after the trigger they do IUI....again, I am sure my RE will fill me in on all of her procedures and protocols tomorrow or the day of the 2nd U/S....but still.....CD 11 falls on a Thursday for me & if I am good to go then, that would put IUI on Sat morning most likely.

I have been on Femara before, w/o IUI & had no side effects...hopefully this month will be the same!

If you get your trigger thursday maybe you can go in late friday afternoon. Is your ultrasound in the early am. My doc said 24-36 hours so if you went in at 8-9 thursday then maybe a late appoint at like four on friday would be good thats 32 hours!
