Is my friend PG? Interesting, read on...

Hello! Please read this and share your thoughts (thanks in advance!)

I've got a friend who is roughly 8 weeks late (maybe 8 wks preg?). She did three rounds of Clomid, followed with IVF.

When she was late for AF the 1st month, she took various hpts and got a blood test @ 1 week late...all was negative.

She has told me however, that missing her 2nd month, she's been seriously hungry (she's put on 2lbs), she's had the boob pain (although lately, she says they itch mostly), and all the pg/pms symptoms.

Last night, she came over and brought a fetal doppler with her. She said that the day before, she had heard a heartbeat, but couldn't tell if it was her own, so she wanted to experiment on me and my bf. On both myself and my bf, we heard nothing but gas (lol), and a faint heartbeat that we figured was our own.

When she did it on herself, after a little bit, we all heard a very distinct pulse (much much louder than on myself or the bf. She also stated that the day before she heard the same pulse, but on a different side of her pelvis.

So, what do you think? Do you think she's p/g?? She been taking at least 2 hpts a week, but everything has come back negative.

She's incredibly apprehensive about going to the DR to get another bloodtest and/or ultra-sound...I'm trying to get her to go this week......

Thanks again for any and all opinions!!!

i would have her go see a doc...cause if she is not preg..8 weeks seems like a bit long to not get ur AF...so just as a check on her health i would see her doc.

I think she should check with her doctor also.

If she thinks she might be pg she needs to see a Dr. I don't think she is pg

She needs to have an ultrasound ASAP. This will give her a definate answer. If she she is pregnant, she needs to know for sure and stop the guessing game. I understand she doesn't want to contact the DR again, but hey, they work for you. Sometimes you have to demand what you want.

8 weeks is too early. My thinking is that she heard her aortic pulse. That's the artery that brings blood down to the legs and is the largest one. So you can hear it from different angles in the abdomen. What was the rate of the heartbeat? If it was below 110 then it was her pulse. Now, stranger things have happened, but to me something doesn't seem right. She really should go to her doc to see what's going on with her cycle.

What really seems weird, is I went through fertility treatment, and I know

Thank you all for your inputs!

As of Monday, she FINALLY called her doctor to get both types of blood tests and an ultrasound scheduled. However, she's going through a LOT right now, and one moment she wants to go, the next, no. She's too afraid to find out, should it be a negative.

But, she remains convinced nonetheless. She says that she's only one other period that was this late, but that was in her teens (she's 29). She's on a ton of different meds (she's got a lot of health issues), but isn't convinced that they're messing her up, including the Clomid treatments.

She's got all the symptoms; slight firmness, bigger boobs, darker areolas, nausea, fatigue, all the ones that could be pms or pregnancy.

I really hope she doesn't cop out on the ordered tests. She knows its imperative to find out either way.

Keep her in your thoughts and prayers...thanks again!
