Do you live near any colleges?

In all honesty, I would get my teeth fixed first. There can be serious problems that occur from cavity covered teeth. It can lead to all sorts of unpleasant infections and leave you very ill. Should you conceive and get an infection, that could lead to even worse complications.

Your health needs to be a priority and your teeth are included in that.
Bewitched21 has a good suggestion for looking into the community colleges, my mother was a dental assistant and she did the same thing when she was in school.
In some cities, usually larger ones, there are also dental clinics for families without insurance and/or lacking in the money department, you could look around online for one in your area.

I know putting it off can be depressing especially after you've been trying for so long and knowing a relative will be trying soon as well, but sometimes that's how life can be. Its not a fun fact, but that's how it goes.

I wish you the best of luck in whatever decision you make though. :)

I would agree with PP - infections in teeth can actually go to your heart - weird but true.

You def should get your teeth taken care of. if you do get pregnant and your teeth get infected it makes things worse especially if one already needs a root canal prolonging it you may end up having to have it pulled. At least take care of the root canal and cavities and any infections going on. Dental schools are def an option because it's cheaper but sometimes procedures take longer, some dentist even have discount plans for patients that do not have insurance. good luck!

I just finished up last year a dental situation where I had to put off taking care of myself.

Poor you! I agree with all the PPs who said to take care of your teeth first. For starters, pregnancy does a number on your teeth and gums, so it would be best for you to go into pregnancy in full oral health! Also, it is true what other PPs have said, dental health affects your whole body. If your body is in a better state, that can only help your ttc efforts. Also, you're YOUNG! Time is on your side. I'd also like to point out that once you have your baby, you'll probably end up dead last on your own priority list (sad but true BTDT), so try to do this for yourself before it takes a back seat for another few years.

BTW, I used Care Credit a few years ago when I was in a similar situation. A word of advice, set up an autmatic payment to them through your checking account. If you are late on one payment, they will jack up your interest rate like no tomorrow. I think I ended up paying like 30% or something crazy, which was really dumb because I had the $, I just hadn't mailed the check on time.

I wish I could offer you a solution to kill two birds with one stone, but i'm sure you've been seeking that yourself for quite some time now. You certainly need to have those teeth taken care of ASAP, that's for sure. I work with AmeriPlan®, bringing families the dental benefits they need that aren't covered by

I am sorry you are having so many issues right now. Stress is not good for TTC. Have you looked into a dental clinic in your area? Even if you had to drive 2 hours to one, it would save you a ton of money. I do not have any dental insurance either. I had 2 root canals done before learning about a dental clinic. They go on a sliding fee schedule. You take in your monthly paystubs and they go by that. I got all my fillings for about $60. That included cleanings as well. Its not the white filling I like but hey it was in my budget. You have to keep your health up as well. So I would see if there was any clinics around to help out. Maybe call your local health department or even a dentist around. Maybe look in the phonebook.

I think everybody is telling you the same thing, but here is another tidbit of information to think about. My sister is a pediatric dentist and she has told me that decay in a pregnant mother's teeth can actually harm the development of her fetuses teeth! Here is a statement about it from another dentist: http://www.chesapeakepediatricdental.com/pediatric-dentistry-perry-hall-md/pregnancy.html
