New and Need Advice!

Hello! I am new to this board, and after reading your postings and deciding that this seems like the perfect place to receive positive support and help, here I am!

My name is Erika. I am in my early twenties and the proud wife of a United States Marine. My Husband and I have been married for a year, and were hoping for a wedding night baby! We tried for a baby up until he deployed at the end of May, and were unsuccessful. I have a very irregular periods. Sometimes it comes every month, sometimes it skips a few before coming back again. I had been using the home ovulation kits, and they never showed anything, so I started to see a fertility doctor. We have proven that out of 3 months, I have ovulated once. And he seems to think this is good enough. I disagree. My Husband comes home from this deployment at the end of October, and could leave again as soon as March. I know this is an oxymoron, but I would like a guaranteed chance of getting pregnant each month he is home. Which means I would like to be ovulation every month.

I am suppose to call my doctor at the end of the month to let him know if my cycle has started, if it hasn't he'll do blood work again to see if I ovulated this month, and if it does he seems to be done with me. If that is the case, I would like to take matters into my own hands, and take the Clomid on my own. Here is where I need the help/advice. I know it needs to be taken on certain days of the cycle, but how do I go about calculating the correct days if I never know when my period is going to be coming?

I am praying to get pregnant before my husband is set to deploy again. This will allow me to have a piece of him home with me at all times :) And if we get pregnant before he leaves again, it should allow him enough time to be gone, and be home for the birth :) So please, any supportive advice/help/suggestions would be wonderful!

Thank you soo much!

I can't really be of help when it comes to Clomid, as I've never had problems with fertility, but I just wondered how you would get the Clomid without a doctor's help?

I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for you, and that all works out and you get your BFP when your husband returns!

Hi Erika and Welcome to the Board!

I am sorry to hear that your doctor is unsupportive.

Donae,

Thank you so much for all of the information! A lot of it I have read online, such as the dosages and the use of ultrasounds to check for mature follicles, but I was very interested to read all the information you have on the "side effects" of Clomid.

Unfortunately with Military insurance, they will not cover my going to another specialist if this one says that I am fine. And maybe I am, but I was heart broken to say goodbye to my Husband without being pregnant this first time, and can not survive another deployment without knowing I have a piece of him here - so any help/assistance in getting pregnant would really put my mind at ease.

Hopefully I am able to get another appointment with my current Fertility Specialist, and hopefully he will let me explain my situation a little better? Otherwise, I think I will look into finding an OB that will monitor me and make sure everything goes smoothly.

Again, thank you so much! And good luck on your journey to becoming a Mom. My thoughts are prayers are with you!

Erika

Hi Erika

I had some experience with Clomid. My regular OB prescribed it to me due to the fact that I went in there with all my charts for 1 year and showed how off my cycle was. He gave me the 50mg dose for
