On the last two computers I had the monitor would turn off and on when I turned the computer off or on. With the newest one (Compaq) it doesn't and I often forget to turn off the monitor. Is there something I can click or program to have the monitor shut off when the computer is shut off?

I agree that today's computer is not an energy hog. I usually turn mine on in the morning and if I am going to be away for a while(more than 2 hours) I will turn my screensaver off and have Zone Alarm stop the internet activity and then turn off the monitor. That way I can turn on the monitor and be ready to go again in a second. But if I am going to be back and forth all day long I just let my screensaver run.
There are people that just don't turn off their computers, and will run them sometimes for weeks at a time without turning them off. Even while they are at work their home computers are on. If that is what they want to do but I wouldn't leave my car running unattended all day so if I am going to be out of the house I turn off the computer. If I am going to be gone over night or go away on vacation I unplug everything. We can have a thunderstorm pop up in a matter of a couple hours. Just be safe. Your light bill won't be huge from you computer running.
Have a nice day !.
I usually leave my computer on all day when I'm in town. (I have a power back up and can get to my computer within 10 minutes for a shutdown if the power goes off)
Join the club on the PSP. If I knew what some of the things were supposed to do maybe then I could figure it out but if I do something and I like it and want to add to it what next? That is why I go to PSP board like the one here at iVillage and others. If I can get a tut that goes step by step and tells me what to do next then I can sometimes do something but so far nothing on my own......Janet
