Desktop item - how to get rid of it??
| Fri, 07-23-2004 - 2:44am |
I was going thru the US Olympic team web site and decided to put a shortcut on my desktop so we can stay tuned to what's on and when. But I goofed and instead of putting on a "shortcut", it put a "desktop item" on, and it takes up the whole screen! There's no x in the corner to get rid of it, it's not showing up in the start-up list, and I don't know how to get rid of it now. I dragged it off the screen, but if popped back up and now covers half the screen. If I right click on it, it offers no escape!!! ?????

I think you've done something related to Web Content on your Desktop.
I found a Windows Help file which tells how to "add Web content to your desktop" - you might be able to reverse the instructions to remove the "Desktop Item".
Good Luck -
To add Web content to your desktop
1. Right-click a blank area on the desktop, and then click Properties.
2. On the Desktop tab, click Customize Desktop.
3. On the Web tab, click New, and then follow the instructions on your screen.
Notes
You must be connected to the Internet to add active Web content to your desktop.
To browse Microsoft's Desktop Gallery Web site, in the New Desktop Item Wizard, click Visit Gallery. The New Desktop Item Wizard opens when you click New on the Web tab.
To select a different Web site, type the Web site address, or click Browse to locate it.
