I hope you don't mind if I ask this question here. I'm really trying to get some information and feedback from anyone who may have enrolled at or attended Tech Skills.
My son is planning on enrolling and he/we are still in the process of finding out as much as we can about the school. It's nation wide. You can work toward many, many certifications and they also help with job placement. You work at your own pace.
Has anyone attended or does anyone know someone who has? I really appreciate any info.
If I should post this elsewhere, please let me know.
Thank you!

Very personal and emotional subject for me. I have 17 years experience and several IT certifications and have been out of work for 2 plus years. I am now a stay at home dad.
My advice is simply this.
GO TO COLLEGE! find a good name university. Lotsa of free money out there to pay for it. Stear clear of the northeast US no IT jobs here. If computers are what you are interested in go after the engineering degree. If math or science are not your strengths then you can still get an IT degree outside the engineering discipline in that route then its best chosen to major in an embedded code discipline such as C, C++ or some type of fuzzy logic.
Lotsa of places stearing the certs, but they don't create the jobs. They are the jobs and are part of the business. Big business.
A college degree can never be taken away from you and they open more doors than certifications. My certs were simply in my opinion a "waste of money" they are now outdated and not worth much to me.
I am also on the COMPTIA website as a subject matter expert. So I know what I am talking about.
Make an appointment with a local university counselor to talk about what an IT degree can do for him. The apointment is free. Do it now, stop waisting time.
Good Luck from

In todays IT world the degree is everything. For me it has been a failure though as of recent,in the IT world the IT degree gathers dust therefore many of my twenty something years skills are considered out dated. Going back to school is under consideration for me right now. However I am being beaten out for jobs by the younger generation.
As an engineer and a parent I cannot drive the point home any harder GO TO COLLEGE!
