Why don't you tell us what you are looking for and what you want to do with your computer it would be easier to make suggestions.

If you are not going to play hard core games the kind that really need a big processor and a lot of power.

If you are not going to edit movies and do a lot of programs that will take a lot of processing power.

Then there is no need to spend that much money on a computer. I have a Dell computer and it came with software that I took off because I didn't use it ever, like Encarta, I am the only one using this computer so I just didn't need it. The Dell software that wanted me to pay after a short time I took that off.

It's a great computer, but probably more than you need.

I want to get the pentium 4 because I am afraid if I don't get it now, I will wish I had in a few months or so.

Listen to Karen when it comes to graphics she does a lot of them.

I do photo editing on my computer. If I had to edit some of my old home movies of my kids I wouldn't cut a thing and I think you would find that too......it is just a mothers thing...lol.

I have a DVD player on my computer but if I am going to watch a movie I am not going to sit in here and watch a movie on a 17" screen when I have a 27" screen and a comfy couch in the living room.

As a matter of fact I I don't even have a DVD.....There are too many movies on my little Dish I don't have to pay for something to watch.

The 9 in one card reader is one of those things that I wouldn't know what to do with. I would suggest if and when you get things that use memory cards you get things that all use the same kind of card. I have a digital camera that came with a dock and I keep that connected to my computer all the time and when I want to get the pictures off and put them on the computer I just set it in the dock and unload them.

The hard drive size? That is a hard one. I have 40GB and haven't even used 10GB of that. And I have tons of photos in here. For most of us 80GB would be more than we ever need. But if it comes with a bigger one then go for it.

The only reason I had Dell computer on top is that the survice I get with mine none of the people in town with their Gateways get the survice that I do. And when people went to get a new one they went with a

Don't ask me why even though I think I might know, but I just didn't get into home videos. It might be because when I was small we had to sit through my aunt and uncles trips on tape. And even though they went to warm places you would think he was shivering...and I got sick to my stomach.......that was reel to reel. Then later years my one sister who always had to have something that everyone else didn't have would make us feel guilty if we didn't sit through her son as he came in last in a track meet. But she had to follow him all the way around zooming and moving the camera faster than he was running......lol.....Come to think of it some tv shows now have that hand held thing and I don't like it.....lol....... Also now as with digital still cameras you can edit some right from the camera.

Now with the still camera. When we would get together after a reunion several family members would be trying to figure out who they took pictures of because they stood so far back with their cameras to get them all in that they could have been getting shots of people going into the grocery store cause you couldn't see them well enough on their prints. Then they would be upset with me because ("she has a better camera than we do") which just wasn't the case. Cause I got better shots with my poloroid than most did even with expencive camera. I didn't worry about getting everyone's body in the shot and I was always standing in front of everyone else getting shots.....so I was just closer and just got the top half not the feet......lol.....Then in about 1984 I got my SLR camera and a 80x200 zoom lens and I could stand back with everyone else and still get closer....lol....used to really bug that sister that used to make me sick........(HEHE)

Sorry, SLR is when you look through the viewfinder you are seeing exactly what will be on your print.

But I would think that

For recording and editing movies: any computer that comes with a DVD burner will usually include video editing software with it.

About DVD editing vs. DVD recording...you'll want the same specs on a computer, to do either one.

Sorry about your migrane, I don't get headaches of any kind, well not often anyway. But a friend of mine has heavy duty drugs for hers and she can't even spell her name when she is on them.

What I wanted to know.....isn't editing kind of a pain too? I have just watched and thought it was something I wanted someone else to do but not me.

Go somewhere quiet and get some rest........Janet
