Any idea what this is.....

I've been getting this message each time I reboot for about a month:
Invalid BackWeb application id 1940576 and then in the task tray it says: running error.
I started getting this message about a month ago and have been just closing it. About a month ago, also, I was checking out Outlook Explorer (which I don't use). Could there be a connection? I haven't installed any programs before this message started.

I am not sure what it is but, the first thing you can check on is to go to Start, Run, in there type in MSCONFIG then go to the startup tab. If you see that Black Web thing in there take the check out from in fron of it and if there is anything else in there that you don't need started with your computer, such as messengers or your printer things that you can start when you need them you can also uncheck those. Then you will have to restart your computer. Then a window will pop up and say that you changed the way Windows starts are you sure you want to do this? What I say is Yes and don't darken my door again.......with a check mark in not to bother you with it again. Or that will pop up every time you start up....
If that don't take care of it and even if it does run Adaware and Spybot Search and Destroy, and your anti virus just to cover all the bases. Then let me know.
I don't know if you meant Outlook Express? I use that and don't get an error....I have never hear of it before..

Have a nice day !.
Got this from another site... I happen to be using a Kodak photoeditor and am getting this error. Apparantly, that's the cause.
A. BackWeb is a generic downloading tool used by various software companies that incorporate it into their product to download data such as product updates. BackWeb can collect information from your PC and deliver it to the collection site. When you connect to the Internet, BackWeb also connects to retrieve advertisements that are then displayed on your browser as popups. I'm sure you know by now that this is not something you want on the PC.
Here's how to get rid of it: Try uninstalling it using the Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel. If there does not appear to be an uninstall program, go to C:\program files\BackWeb\ and remove this directory. Run MSCONFIG (Start, Run, type MSCONFIG), check the Startup tab and disable anything related to BackWeb. Look for any .EXE file starting with BackWeb and delete it.
Finally, download one of the spyware detectors (I like Spybot), install it, check for and install any recent updates, then run it and have it fix the found problems.

Caution when using Spybot Search and Destroy, don't disable anything that has to do with windows, or your other programs, otherwise you may corrupt your basic files and have to reinstall... then you'll have even more errors to deal with. Here's a good website, read the cautions involved.

I use both lavasoft and spybot.. sometimes one will get what the other doesn't. Should clean out all the nonsense you may have from ad trackers and the like.

BACKWEB is an application, or utility, which comes "pre-installed" on most HP or COMPAQ computers.
Technically, it is a utility which allows HP/Compaq to "send" you important information - such as technical updates - but they also use it for "advertising".
Anyway, Spybot classifies it as "spyware" or "adware" since it "PUSHES" announcements to your computer - a possible security violation.
Your best bet is that your current INSTALLED security software (firewall? Antivirus? etc) has already Caught - and disabled - this application.
Try DEINSTALLING the backweb software from the control panel.
To keep your computer Up-To-Date, go to HP / Compaq and REGISTER for them to send you an EMAIL whenever your model of PC has new drivers, software releases, patches or updates available.
Just like running Windows Update, you should check with your PC manufacturer several times every year to see if they have released or published updates that effect the hardware or software on your PC model.
