Downloads and install of the MS updates, and you have the SP2 already.....let us know how it is going . Anything change? Are things better? Worse? How long did it take?
I have my computer set to download then let me know so I can install them.
We have talked about the updates before, I always get the critical ones but some of the ones that are "Recommended" I pass on. Why? Well there is one to update my fax console.....I don't have a fax and don't plan on getting one so why get the update?
Download size: 7.0 MB, 4 minutes
This accessory allows people who do not have a computer running Windows XP Tablet PC Edition to view files that were created in Microsoft Windows Journal on a Tablet PC I don't even know anyone with a tablet pc....lol
The games stops responding? Never had that problem either......
Update for the Media Center so I can play DVDs if I have a player that supports Direct Show.......I am not watching DVDs on my computer when my living room couch is more comfortable.....lol
The one for the Windows movie maker didn't have anything to do with me since I don't even have a camcorder or download movies....
Nor did I download the .NET framwork.
There are others, at one time there was a fix so I could watch SnowWhite or some such thing I think it had something to do with that worm or viruse that was going around a couple years ago....I suppose people couldn't play anything that had Snow White in it......
So you see I don't like to just install anything.......I am picky....there are a couple things in the SP2 that I have to wait and see if I even need too..
I have been following what they have been saying about the BETA version of this update.....But I would like to hear what you have to say about it too....
Please just jump right in and tell us.......Thanks Janet

Hang on there, I have been reading and there is some question about SP2 really being out there. Seems what that has been released is to IT professionals and OEM manufacturers. I thought it was strange that if it was there and I ran the Windows update it wasn't there.
Anyway some pros are saying to wait for a while after it is released to see what happens in the public. I think that is what I am going to do. Let others find the problems.....lol....
If you are set to download and install then you won't be waiting but just wanted to let you know that it is still too early to tell what is happening......

Yes I am going to be keeping my eye on it too. Let others figure out what if anything is going on. I know there are a couple things in there that I don't need but it is supposed to scan your computer as it aways does and only download what you need.... but I want to see first..lol....
I do know that downloading the SP1 didn't take as long as I thought because I had been getting all the updates as they came out and SP1 was a combo of all of them. Which would be ok to know that I won't need the whole 80MB......lol.......But I did look in my Add/Remove and there are some 16 Hotfixes that have (SP2) like that in the middle of them.
Karen will you check and see if you have some too? Thanks. Janet

Like you, I betcha there are a slew of the updates that I have absolutely no need for them to be there! Would you mind giving me, at least, a hint where to look for the options?
Thanks again, JMS
We have found we have some SP2 updates in our add/remove too but that must not be what we thought. I have been told that it is about 80 MB and it is going to take more than a few minutes to download. Dial up people are looking at maybe several hours. But it is supposed to look at your system and be able to tell just what you need.
I always install all of the critical updates. It is the optional( recommended
Have a nice day !.
Do you have any more info
