Is there someone out there that can tell me what exactly an ebook reader device does? How does it work? Can it take a floppy disc with a text document on it and let one read it like a book?

Thanks for your help!

an ebook is an electronic text that you download to a laptop or a palmpilot type device and read. Its great if you travel alot on train, plain, bus etc, and if you have great eyesight. Floppy disc on a portable reader or palmpilot like device? not yet however memory sticks are playing a big favor here and many of the devices can take these memory sticks or cards that can hold more info than a floppy and are smaller too. They also have no moving parts like a disc and require no motor device to read them. Much like portable ram. I figure whats around the corner is a voice book on one of these devices, soon you will be able to relax with your headset on a plane and listen to your favorite novel on an ipod like device any where you go. Why read when someone will read to you. Regrettably I'm from the old school and this frightens me.

Ed I am with you I am afraid that would put me to sleep and I wouldn't get much from the book. And what if they insert hidden messages like they did in the movies? lol.........Janet

DEPENDS

1.Usually a USB connection, sometimes a parallel cable.
