If the Norton firewall scans incoming and outgoing traffic then you shouldn't need XPs firewall enabled. You want something that checks both ways.

When you get the Microsoft SP2 it will turn on the XP firewall by default, you can turn it off. I have Zone Alarm and I have the XP firewall turned off.

If you aren't having problems I don't suppose it would hurt to leave it on, if you want. Janet

I'm not having any problems I'll just leave it on until I do. LOL

Now, I have another ?. Yesterday I downloaded XP SP2 - I get a little pop up that says Antivirus - Norton Antivirus reports that it is installed, but it's status is unknown. It recommended that I check to see that Antivirus is turned on and running.

I run Norton Antivirus every morning and it is turned on.

Now try turning off the XP firewall and see if that helps. I just read something about that I will try and find it again so I can post it.

There has been a reported problem and there is a patch out for it, but I see that Norton will be issuing an update that should take care of the problem. Janet
