I am here once again for help. I have always gotten good help from this place so am trying again. I was uninstalling some programs that I no longer use on my computer tonight and i notice that there were many things on there and i have no idea what they are. The ones that I have several of are

WindowsXPHotfix(SP2)Q817287

WindowsXPHotfix(SP2)(See Q329390 for more information

Does anyone know what these might be ? I have several of these only with different numbers I wanted to know if they are something I need to keep or they are something I can get rid of. Thanks

Linda

I have no idea why Windows don't make a nice neat folder to put all that stuff in but would rather mess our our Add/Remove with them. These are the updates that we get when we run the Windows Update and should be left alone. They are a good thing. I guess if someone ever has a problem after installing one of them they can be uninstalled but if your computer is running good then they are ok. And there can be quite a list of them....lol...It is ok......

Actually, it's my understanding that SPs can't be uninstalled; I usually get a note from MS, telling me that my Windows downloads can't be uninstalled.

I just read that they can be uninstalled in the Add/Remove programs, or you could go back to before it was downloaded. But what most of the talk is saying that you should do a few things first before you download and install it.

I have not downloaded it yet. I am keeping an eye on it. I would say that about 85-90 persent of the computers that have it installed have not had a problem with it.
