I tried to run scandisk and of course ran into the window that it "had to restart 10 times, do I want to continue?" So I put my computer into Safemode and tried again. Same thing!!!! In safemode there was nothing else running, so why is it having to restart?

You cannot run scandisk in safe mode.

to run scandisk in normal mode you need to "disable" your anti-virus and any other protection programs you have running.

You must turn off your anti-virus program and your firewall softwares because they are always running in the background. I've found the newest version of McAfee is a disaster because it has a couple of different things I had to turn off, not just one. It had the constantly looking for updates from McAfee running, plus another part of the program constantly scanning in the background for every program or file you open, online or not. I used ZoneAlarm on my PC, also, and same thing. Had to turn it off. The tricky part is with the newer anti-virus programs where you have to dig out *two* things to turn off within them, instead of the traditional one.

Good luck!
