I saw the end of an advertisement on Ad-Ware. It mentioned Spyware. Did anyone else see see anything about it? Does it prevent pop-up ads and/or help you avoid being spied on?

On my PC I always had Spybot to keep spy programs cleaned off my hard drive. You can get it @ www.spybot.com I think. Ad-aware does something different regarding planting ads on uour computer and can be d/l free for home use @ www.lavasoft.de . Neither of these programs take care of pop-ups, though. Your browser usually has a pop-up control in its Preference settings, plus there are freebie ones available for d/l. I've just used my pop-up blocker in Netscape. Hopefully someone will post where to get pop-up blockers. PC World's web site is a good place to get all kinds of info and even ratings on stuff: www.pcworld.com . Good luck! :) Gypsy

I don't need/use pop up blockers because Mozilla's Firefox has one built into the browser.

Great. I'm hearing a lot of good things about Firefox! :D Also, my Netscape has a popup blocker also built into the preferences. All I had to do was turn it on. Even Mac's browser, Safari, has that option in it's preferences. I've never felt a need to go buy or d/l a freebie popup blocker for this reason. I would assume if Netscape (aka Mozilla) and Firefox and even Safari have this blocker, that IE would also, at least in it's current updated version.

After re-reading your response to me, I was puzzled. Ad-Aware and Spybot are *not* popup blockers. They keep ads and spying software from being downloaded onto your computer without your knowledge when visiting web sites. Just wanted to make that clear because your post didn't address that.
