I am still so totally frustrated by all of the spyware I am getting that I just cannot get rid of..I just don't know what to do anymore. Now I have a browser problem. Something continues to change my default homepage. Everytime I reset the default about 2 seconds later the default changes to "about:blank"...what is this??? why does it keep overriding my default???

Then I continue to get the same software downloaded into my program files folder. Every day I go there, delete the software, the next day it is back...with it comes a few windows that continue to open that go to porn sites..lovely when my 9 year old son is doing his homework on the computer??? I just cannot manage to keep this stuff off.

I use spybot on a daily basis....something interesting with that. There are two files that spybot cannot delete...hmmm...I wonder why. I just simply cannot get it to delete. I wonder if this is the source of some of my frustration in these two files that cannot be deleted.

I guess my biggest pressing question is how to keep spys from changing your default webpage...

I know what you are going through. I updated an add on program that I had been using for a couple years. I trusted it. But failed to read the forums before I just clicked yes to install the whole thing. And what a mess, the browser hijacker the pop ups eve when I wasn't online and the dirty nasty stuff too.

I am going to make some suggestions....

Also if you don't get every bit of the spyware off your computer then every time you go on the internet it will "call home" and so it can download some more. So when cleaning things don't go on the internet till you are sure.

The Windows firewall just won't cut it because it only blocks things from getting in but not from calling home. So you either need a router or a software firewall like http://www.download.com/3000-2092-10039884.html?part=zonealarm&subj=dlpage&tag=button

When I had my PC, I definitely had ZoneAlarm and NO PROGRAM had permission to communicate on the internet except my email and browser and NOBODY was allowed to write to my hard drive without my permission. I set ZoneAlarm on Stealth Mode and it protected me very well, indeed. :P On the Mac, because we changed to always-on DSL at the same time, I also have all it's internal firewall settings to allow NOTHING to come through without prior approval plus we also have a router with a hardware firewall built in. I used Spybot and Adaware for the PC, and they very seldom found anything, do to my set up with ZoneAlarm.
