Hi!
I need some help. I´m not supposed to stretch my retina which just tore and is rehealing. The left to right motion when reading a book or magazine does just that. However I can read from a computer screen, with large print. Lately I´ve been downloading documents and enlarging the font. But I´m a book reader since childhood! I found Project Gutenberg and its resources but I can´t get comfortable reading a book from a monitor.
Question: has anyone heard of a piece of hardware that is an ebook reader (I´m familiar with all the software but they seem to be adverising under fals pretenses and they still invove reading from a monitor.

What you want is like the old books on tape and you could listen to them? I thouht that was what I was looking for but when I Googled , ebook reader, I got things that involved a palm pilot or some other thing you had to read. I know that there is such a thing as a CD with books on it that you can listen too. Because how else would the blind be able to "read" those books they couldn't do brail on a pocket computer.......
I will keep looking maybe go to the sight impaired sites...........be right back........Janet
I knew there was a place. http://www.audiobooksonline.com/shopsite/cd_audiobooks.html
Have a nice day !.
Thanks for the website if I lose too much of my vision I´ll probably need it! At the moment I hope I´ll still be able to curl up with a good book; either large print or something similar. I have a great bunch of old novels, in the public domain that I downloaded from the Gutenberg Project I´ve reformatted the files to .doc and enlarged the font. But unless there´s an ebook reader I can curl up with I guess I´ll have to start buying books with large print. Please see what you can locate on something you can curl up with.
Thanks for your time,
Margot
Here is what I came up with. But if you plan on curling up with it you may need a laptop......lol.
