Windows Xp and a laptop
| Mon, 11-08-2004 - 7:59am |
I have Windows XP and Aol.9 broadband and my daughter has been given a laptop. Would it be possible to connect the two up or would it be easier to pull the phone wire out of the P.C. and just use the connection in the Laptop. The laptop came with it's own internet cable. The information I found on the laptop was as follows
Toshiba.
Notebook.
Genuine Intel.
Pentium (R) processer.
Intel MMX (TX) Technology.
32.OMB RAM.
I found this in the properties when I right clicked.
I hope all this makes sense.
Thanks.

1.You will need a network card for the laptop $20
2.You will need a router $20
3.You will need some network cables $10
You can buy all this stuff at any local CompUSA, Radioshack or Circuit City store.
This is what you do. You take the cable that is coming into your computer and plug it into the router. The router will now split that connection to more connection, the smallest hubs are usually for 4 devices. plug your PC into one and the laptop into another and you are done. Most routers come with easy to follow dummy instructions, you can't screw it up regardless of your knowledge.
Still havin problems drop me a note here and I can clear it up for you.

Have printed your advice and will be off to P.C world asap (and convert dollar's into pound's) ;-) Thanks. Chris.
