It's just a small problem......

But I don't understand why it happens. I learned how to lock my desktop items so they don't move all over the place when I sign off. But I have a bunch of folders I made up in "my documents". I understand all about those and how to create/move/delete, etc., but why won't they stay where I place them? They'll remain in the order I want them for awhile, but eventually I'll open up "my documents" and find they've scattered all over the place AGAIN. DH and I try to keep those kinds of folders separated. Again, it's just a minor problem, but is there a way to lock these folders so the computer doesn't arbitrarily just move them around? I've had problems INSIDE the folders, as well, same thing - I'll get them all neatly organized so I can find them fast, and eventually I'll open up the folders and find they are no longer organized at all, just scattered all over. How do you lock these things into position?

But when I open My Documents there will be a list by name,, but if I open it say to download something from the internet and I want to put it in my docs everything is out of order. It is like putting the car in the garage and going out to get in it and it is in the driveway. Not a big deal but still drives you nuts....lol
I am not sure there is a permanent solution for this so I just right click and put them back in order or, for a long time I just get used to finding my "Download "folder at the bottom of the list and my "Working" folder at the top.
If someone has found out how to keep them from wondering around let's hope they tell us....Janet
Have a nice day !.
What is happening is that one or more of your applications or devices is borrowing memory from your your on board graphics to operate and excelerate your program and or device. Since your desktop icons are also using the same memory, they take a backseat. This is commonly referred to as shelving. Like taking a book off the shelf and later putting it back at a different location. Nothing is missing just in a different place, only affects icons and typically all in one main boards on lower priced PC. Those with seperate graphic cards don't typically see this issue.
You can't fix it.
