"Delayed Typing"?

I've been having a problem with  delayed typing, like my keys freeze up..... I have to stop posting because it is so frusterating. I have even tried another keyboard, but it still happens. I'm using DSL so I know it's not being on dailup.  This also happens when I'm using MSN messenger. Could it be caused by something I"ve got downloaded on my  computer?

I just found out that someone else on the same board I post to is having the same problem.  Sure hope someone here can give us some help.

Thanks in advance~~

Have you checked your system preferences for the keyboard? You can change how fast you type and the delays, etc., there. If it's only happening in one or two programs, have you run anti-virus scans (are you up to date with that?) checked for adware or spyware? Do you have a firewall? Are there preference settings that may address this, in your browser settings (for posting here) or in MSN Messenger (I don't use that, so I'm unfamiliar with it). When you're in other programs, is there any typing problem then?

Just some things to think about and check on. My email program stopped registering "t's" when I'd type them, but when I'd go into Word or some other program, the "t's" typed out just fine, so I knew it wasn't my keyboard or my OS. What I did was restart my system and whatever little buggaboo was there, would disappear. I believe that's only a temporary fix, though, because the problem would come back in a longer session. And, who wants to restart their computer all the time? Something's out of whack that needs adjustment or something. :-\ Sometimes I find programs become "corrupted" and/or need updates, and quirky things like this occur until I either reinstall the program or get the updates for the programs having the problems. You might also make sure any caches are emptied, too.

We have some good techies here. Hopefully you'll get the help you need!

Good luck,
Gypsy

Your welcome! Just hope it helps! I wish others would post to you, too, though, as there are some very knowledgeable folks here... Perhaps they'll be back tomorrow to post. :P

Have you noticed delays in other programs opening on your puter?

Just wanted to let you know that after mentioning the problem on the Grandparents board, there have been several members complaining of the same thing. One said that it only seemed to happen on our board.

Thanks again for all the advice. At least I know now that I'm not alone in my"misery"...lol
