Good morning Janet and all. Man dear its been awhile since I have been here. I trust you are all ready for Christmas???? Doing fine in my own litle apt so far/ legal hassle starting up but I have a good lawyer who listens to me and "cuts to the chase" My question is about those tiny digital cameras.....do they work and what system etc do you have to have? I was thinking I would like to get one as I was given some $ by relatives...but I have never exactly been all that great a photographer. You know I actually found an old VIVITAR that you have to wind and do all manually at Salvation Army store for $1.00 and it had film in it...but I musthave gotten light into it cause only 1 pic turned out ha ha You probably don't remember...but I have WINME and 128 mgs with PAVILLION hard drive , HP Deskjet printer and Visioneer 6100 scanner. Do I need something else for a digital camera. No I wouldn't be getting a larger one...that takes$ and I really don't have it now ha ha But anyway....you have a great Christmas....will check back on this question. God bless!!!

Well, do these little cameras have a memory card or do they have to have some sort of dock to hook them up to the computer?
98 and ME are kind of old horses when it comes to new gadgets. Or should I say old dogs......You know teaching new tricks? They don't work well with the new stuff. Pictures use a lot of memory if you are doing any cleaning of photos etc. How does it work to scan photos in and maybe correct red eye etc.? Does it slow or freeze the computer?
If this new camera has a removable memory card you can take them to a Kodak 1 hour and they can print the photos off for you. I live in a rural area and the Kodak place will let me watch to see what the photos will look like and if I want them printed or not. Then it is the same as with film.......29¢ a print.
I still keep and use my film camera and untill it actually dies completely dead I will keep using it. It has a 80-200 zoom or a wide angle lens filters etc and I sure hate to see that go. Maybe I will get rich and be able to afford the one that uses both.......but I am not holding my breath, I don't even buy lottery tickets and my rich family have to many kids for me to be on the list........lol
My Digital I got from QVC, it came with everything dock, cable, camera and 64MB of memory I have not filled it yet, and I use it to run outside and shoot something or when I need to send someone a picture of something that can't wait till I get the film developed.
Have a nice day !.
Well thank you Joan and Janet.......I am not sure what exactly these little digitals have or require or anything. I mostly wanted it to send photos thru email.I only have black cartridge in my printer right now.
I just moved into small apt and wanted to show people away what it looked like....am slowly getting the photo bug I guess. My youngest is sooo good at it.......
I will look over the camera at work and have copied out what you both said.
We have no snow yet here.........what about where you both live? Janet I am sure you have plenty eh? Christmas seemed to come fast this year but the Christmas spirit hasn't hit most people. In stores they are often rude, pushy and downright nasty. It has become far too comercialized and when you work retail you see that .
Well thanks to both of you.....Merry Christmas once again from Nova Scotia , Canada!!!!
Here's a hug to get you warm.
It has turned cold here in Nebraska but the snow we had a few weeks ago is gone. But they are saying we could get some next week. I could wait but you know the weather.
You know, almost any digital camera will be great for sending pictures through the email. I had one that I used for a web cam and it could also take stills and I don't think it had even a mega pixel.....but the stills I took looked good on the screen........I would show you but they are of people and I don't think it would have been very good for scenery. But that thing by the time I got the rebates cost nothing. I have a 3com home camera that I got for my Windwos 98 and wouldn't you know(this happens to me) they sold the company or the camera and didn't have any updates for XP.....I was heartbroken. It is a good web cam. Then some smart person found out that the drivers for Windows 2000 worked great for the camera and xp. So last night I gave that little camera to a grandson. I had gotten that from Home Shopping Network, I don't shop there that offen.....but my HP I got from QVC. Nice operators, fast service, no pushing, no shoving, no parking, and no freezing.....just opening the door for our UPS man........lol........
I was shocked when I went to look for a scanner and printer at a computer store that all you got was the printer and scanner you had to buy the cables and sometimes other parts as addons...So back to QVC and got them, they always come with everything you need. Anyway the things I have gotten. Cables, software and adapters etc.
I should think that there should be some good deals out there right now on cameras, they have to reduce the prices or they will have them after Christmas.
It is also true that with some cameras that don't have a dock or if you don't have a card reader all you need is the software that comes with it and a usb port and you will be able to download them to your computer.
Remember to resize your photos for email Some can be quite big......Nothing scarier than downloading a huge picture and to be able to count pores on a persons face.........lol........
Have Fun
Janet
Have a nice day !.
