I put the photo on the mousepad with the transfer paper but I don't like it. The only mousepads that they had in this little town was a medium to dark blue. I used the iron-on transfer paper for dark fabric but it still turned out too, too dark. I think it would have been fine if I could have bought a light colored mousepad.
Now, the other paper I was thinking about using is the same kind as for address labels or CD labels except it is a solid sheet that can be cut to the size that you want after you get your photo printed on it. I've used it a lot but didn't know if I should use it on a mousepad. What do you the rest of you think? I think it will stick ok but would ink come off when it is being used? I'll be waiting for a reply. Thanks for all your help.

My DH had some of these printed somewhere with a picture, not sure where, so it can be done. I can't answer your question, but I have done experiments on my own with all kinds of things, and then in the end found out it would have been cheaper to just let some "service" do it for me. We tried to make up Christmas cards to send to customers last year. By the time you figure in the program you had to buy, the card stock, the ink, and the time, we found out it would have been much cheaper to have some done for us somewhere. Never again, ha!
I don't know about your project, seems like you'd need to stick with the "right" kind of paper for it to turn out right. I see your problem, though - those mouse pads seem to be made of fabric/rubber/whatever the heck it is, so to get a permanent transfer it probably has to be done a certain way. The way so many of us drink water all day or eat lunch at the computer, seems like the ink could easily come back off all over you if it wasn't permanently "set". Have you tried the craft board here? Or done a search on the internet? You can usually find info for just about any topic you need help with. I'm a big-time crafter and have used transfers on cotton, but that sets very easily.
