I have a printer thats 3 yrs old. lexmark Z-22 inkjet. works great. trouble is i got a NEW computer with XP home edition. i used to have win 98. Now printer sounds like its going to print then it spits out blank paper. im thinking it needs the DRIVER updated to be compatible with WIN xp. if this is true, is it better to get the driver updated by lexmark website? or by microsoft website drivers?

any help here would be greatly appreciated. i want to say that i dont print often BUT when i do, id like it to work with the click of the button like most printers do, suppose i install an updated driver and it still doesnt work correctly with windows xp?

Your win98 driver from your previous PC will not work with XP so YES you need the new driver. First completly uninstall the printer. Then download the new driver.

http://downloads.lexmark.com/cgi-perl/downloads.cgi?ccs=229:1:0:284:0:0&emeaframe=&target=http://downloads.lexmark.com/cgi-perl/downloads.cgi&emeaframe=&target=http://downloads.lexmark.com/cgi-perl/downloads.cgi&

Then use the new add printer wizard install it. Use the have disk prompt, pointing to where on your hard drive you downloaded it to. You should be fine.

the disk i have is the 1 that came with the printer, which is 3 yrs old. 1st i have to uninstall the printer, then go to download site u mentioned and do what it says? then when it says have disk how can i install it with the disk thats old? and wont it find 2 printers?

when i got the new comp and hooked it all up etc. thats what happened. computer found new hardware then i installed my printer with the disk that came with it and then i had 2 printers showing up. so id have to go in an delete a printer. but the next time i turned on my computer once again it would find new hardware and add printer again. by updating the driver, will this make that stop? apparently i shouldnt use the old disc that came with the computer?
