virus scanner problem

I have mcaffee virus scanner.  It was always scheduled to run once a week and I never had problems with it.  I think over the last month or so, trial games and stuff like that were downloaded especially when my mom was here using my computer while my son was in the hospital.  For some reason now, my virus scanner won't stay enabled.  I keep resetting it to start on boot up but I just  had to re enable it again because it keeps going off.  How can I tell which program is causing it to keep going off or how do i fix the situation?   Thanks.

my guess is something nasty got downloaded in one of these seemingly innocuous games. I think you should do a full scan with your macafee and then run spybot-search and destroy ,and adaware.

hopefully they will find something.

Is your macafee still receiving regular virus updates? Just making sure that wasn't disabled too.

ALso in case macafee got hosed, you can run this virus scan from your browser for free. I would run it anyway no matter what shape you think macafeee is in.

You end up needing to reinstall or uninstall/reinstall your macafee if nothing else works too.
