Hi everyone!

I have a question about AD Aware SE.  I have a laptop with Windows XP and everytime  I go to 'update' because it needs it I get and 'error retrieving update' on the AD Aware screen.  I starts to 'update' and then that error comes up. It does it on my desktop, but that has Windows ME on it and I thought it was because of that, but its doing it on the laptop as well....grrrrrr.......

Can someone help this poor soul out here? lol!

Just tonight I went to update my Adaware 2007 and it would get part way and then quit when I went to close it said this program is not responding then did I want to send an error report. So I went to find out why. Well the version SE is not being supported as of December 31st but I had 7.0.2.5 and the one that was available was 7.0.2.6. So I didn't know what the problem was either. So I downloaded the .6 version uninstalled the .5 version and then installed the .6 one and it ran fine. Now I don't know what will happen when there is another update but for now it is working.

But that is what I would do too. Just go get the .6 version downloaded then uninstall SE then install the new one.......Wouldn't you think that they would send us an email telling us all this and save some stress on us?LOL

There were a lot of bugs in Adaware SE. My computer used to hang at the conditional scan. I did some research and found out that they corrected most of the bugs in the newer edition. I'm not sure if your bug was one of the ones they corrected or not but I'd try downloading the newest Adaware SE and see if it goes smoothly.

Thanks Janet and Lyne.

I downloaded on the laptop containing XP the newer version of AD Aware 2007.

I have no idea what is compatible with ME. It's so old that as things are updated, they stop supporting older OS's. You'll just have to search around the internet for something that supports it.

I was coming to see what other GOOD choices there are since AdAwareSE personal is no longer being supported?

I have WinXP.

I read reviews of AdAware2007 that says it's bloated and takes lots longer to run scans.

Lavasoft updated their program Adaware and is no longer Adaware SE it is Adaware 2007. Why can't we just update and go on with our business? That would be to easy I guess...... What I did was downloaded the new Adaware 2007. Then uninstalled the old version and installed the new version. It was easy but still it should have been easierl. But anyway I am sure there is another way to do it but this way worked for me and others.
