I wish it was that easy just sign up and we wouldn't have to buy one of those flat screen tvs.....lol

If you buy XP or you already have it MS will support it till 2014. I would be very suprised if by then Vista will either be the best thing to come along or there will be a couple more versions of Windows before 2014.

Funny, when XP came out a lot of the same things were being said about Windows 98 people complained that XP was to much like Jelly beans or Barbie doll like. And so they were able to change the interface from what I think

The phase for additional software support will provide consumers with service until 2014, Microsoft said

You are right.

Unlike cars.........lol.......My 89 Merc Tracer is still running. Even though they probably don't make parts for it anymore I can still get things for it even though they might not be original, the car is still running.

But who wants to have a computer that you can't go on the internet safely with? Or maybe not at all? Yes it is the money. Poor MS needs money..........lol.....

I hope this isn't considered an advertisement but a computer store I frequent called Microcenter is selling brand new Dell PCs with XP professional on them for $400 without a monitor. You can also order them from their website if you don't live near one. A coworker of mine bought one and is very pleased with it. In case anyone was interested in a new computer but didn't want to make the leap to Vista yet.
