Hello Ladies -
hi, Ann,sounds like you're on the right track. I would try to get to see an RE as soon as possible. Have them test your AMH level. That is all that matters. FSH levels are messages your brain sends to your ovaries as opposed to AMH levels, which is the actual cell count of the premature eggs themselves.
Once you get going with your RE, etc., it might take a couple of months before they try anything drastic. By that point, you could be beyond the "one year trying" hurdle. or, have a BFP!
Welcome Ann, and I am sorry to hear about your loss.
I recognize you from the TTCAM board! Welcome! I have been with this lovely group of ladies for over a year now. This board has been so helpful/supportive/comforting! It's been quiet here for several months; I am guessing due to many of our active members achieving their goal of pregnancy or moving on. I find it hard to believe that I have been TTCing my 1st for over a year! Got pregnant for the 1st time last July but m/c. Got married for the 1st time 10/08. so the last couple of years have been busy and challenging.
As for testing... I have found it both helpful and discouraging at our age. I had my FSH tested last year - 12.4; retested recently - 18.4. Also had my AMH and had a very low at .24. So, very upsetting but at least I have a better idea of what I am working with. Fortunately DH and I were not considering IVF, b/c my results would probably disqualify me. I try to look at it like this: my results only mean that I would not respond well to meds associated with IVF and it may take me longer to get pregnant. I did my 1st IUI last week (took Femera) and I hope we get lucky this cycle!!
Hang in there and feel free to ask questions and vent and share!
Thanks all for the advice ladies. :) I appreciate it. I went to my dr. today and he wants to do a Clomid Test - so this next cycle, we'll do my blood draw on the 3rd day, I'll start Clomid on the 5th for 5 days and then we'll do a blood draw again on the 10th day and go from there. Base on those results, we'll decide from there next steps... I just keep reminding myself to just breathe... The more stressed I get, the more my body reacts to it and screws my cycle up even more! ;)
I appreciate the support!
Hi, I'm new to this board too.
I recently started my first IVF cycle and I think it's going well. I'll get more information on Monday. I'm 41 and my husband and I have been TTC since January 09. In September 09 we decided to try IVF and to my surprise learned I was pregnant naturally at the beginning of Oct 09. Sadly, I miscarried in Nov. We took some time to heal and decided we were ready to move forward last month.
It can be a challenging road and it's nice to know other woman facing similar struggles.
Have a great weekend, Suzanne
