I am a lurker on this board- I'm 40 years old TTC# 2. DH and I didn't get married until we were 35, had a m/c at 36, concieved DS at 38 and I had him 2 weeks shy of my 39th Birthday.

About me: A pixie in the city, 41, TTC#1 since May 2010, married 18 years.


Diagnosed with/surgically removed endometrioma Aug 2010. Sept IUI #1=BFN. Nov IUI #2=BFN. Uterine polyp removed Jan. 2011. Jan 2011 IVF cancelled. No response. 2nd

I should post, you are right, I don't want to anyone to feel like I am 'stealing' from them, but I just feel a little self conscious about it. We've only been trying for 6 months. I have no real infertility issues, we aren't going to do Clomid, IUI or any of that.

Oh you are fine! Everyone has a different plan and story, I am the same as you, we are only doing Clomid (or might try Femera next), we are not doing IUI or anything like that, not that I wouldn't want to, I would do anything to have our baby, it was just a decision we made.

Quinn is very cute! Lots of women on this board (myself included until recently) are ttc the old fashioned way without any intervention at all. This is a board for them (you, us) as well! Jump in and share with us!

Dede, what a lovely post! This is indeed a great little community. Please don't feel out of place because you're TTC naturally -- this board is for anyone who wants to get PG after 40, by whatever means and for whatever reason. KUP and best of luck with #2!

I agree with everyone else. Heck I'm not even 40 yet (3 months away), but felt this was the right board for me, and if anyone feels any angst about that it sure hasn't come my way! I'm excited for people who can conceive without assistance...and excited for those who need help (like me) to get what they need.

Having a baby at our ages is an incredibly hopeful act. That's how I look at it.

So glad you posted, that was so sweet! And I agree, you should post more! I am another of those who are doing this without any assistance, partly by choice and partly because of finances. No one else besides the ladies here know of our decision to TTC, I know they would all think we are completely loony, and some days I would agree! Especially since I am already 45. You certainly have not offended anyone, and you certainly are not being selfish. Truly, by what you said I think you could benefit a lot from the support here. Sounds like you have a few people in your life who think that once you hit 40 (or even 35) you should never consider children. A bit more positive influence can only help! :-)

Dede, thanks for your thoughtful post. I know there are a lot of lurkers who are afraid to come out for any number of reasons...thanks for letting us know you're out there and finding hope and information here.
