Along with an Atlas for the White House...how about either a lesson world history, diplomacy, or, even better a GAG for Rumsfeld?

Donald Rumsfeld today proclaimed that Saddam Hussein will join others in the annals of the history books as a failed dictator, naming ?Hitler, Stalin, Lenin and Ceausescu¦.

For Donald Rumsfeld-s information, Vladimir Ulyanov came to power on a message of ?bread and peace¦, setting in motion a process which was to bring a Medieval state to the front line of development and give to an oppressed, illiterate population with a near to zero chance of social mobility every opportunity for a good education, a guaranteed job, house, retirement pension, food, vodka, health care and cultural and sports opportunities second to none.

Vladimir Ulyanov set in motion a process which sees the Russian people today as well or better prepared than their peers abroad to perform any job anywhere on earth.

Vladimir Ulyanov set in motion the mechanism to create the Soviet Union, which heroically defeated the fascist forces of Hitler, who Rumsfeld mentions in the same breath as Lenin, which lost 20,000,000 of its souls and whose armed forces, under Stalin, who Rumsfeld also mentions in the same breath, killed 90% of all German soldiers in the war.

That everything was not perfect in Vladimir Ulyanov-s Russia is patently clear. However, to compare him to Hitler is wholly inappropriate and demonstrates a degree of arrogance and ignorance shocking in a person at the political level which Rumsfeld has somehow attained.

At least Vladimir Ulyanov did not flout international law and launch a murderous campaign against a sovereign nation, massacring civilians, leaving women and children without limbs. Maybe Rumsfeld forgot to add Bush to the list. For Rumsfeld-s information, Lenin was Vladimir Ulyanov-s pseudonym.

If Rumsfeld compares Lenin to Hitler, maybe we should compare Bush to Genghis Khan and Rumsfeld himself to Jabba the Hutt.

Lenin was a mass-murdering pig like Hitler, "bread and peaCE" or not, after all, Adolf Hitler talked a lot about "peace" too, didn't he?? All these mass-murdering demogogues claim to be "men of peace," don't they?? "Peace in our time," "The Peace loving peoples' of the Socialist nations," gagg, gack, varf!!

Just like Hitler, Mussolini, Osamu Bin Laden, Mao Tse Tung, Arafat, Dr. Lee of Singapore, Dung Xaio Ping, etc.

Lenin turned murderer Felix Dzershinsky and the killers of the "CHEKA" loose on his political opponents, and killed millions.

It would appear thaT it is the defender of Lenin-pig who needs a lesson in history. Lenin and the Bolshevik party came to power in Russia not through "peace and bread" and popular acclaim, but rode to power on a sea of Russian and Ukrainian blood, and set up the most evil dictatorship at the time (until Hitler and Stalin eclipsed Lenin for bloodthirsty-ness.)

Yes, Lenin's real name was Vladimir Ulyanov, he hid behind an alias like the coward and murderer he was. I am sure if it had been fashionable at the time for thugs and murderers like him to be "islamic," he would have called himself "Lenin Muhammed."

Rumsfeld is an idiot all too often, but in comparing a scum like murdering Communist offal Lenin aka Vladimir Ulyanov to Hitler, he was only telling truth and true history. Lenin was not as efficient at mass murder as the dictators who came after him, but he "set the stage" the Nazi, Stalinist, and Maoist mass-murder, terror, and villiany. "In the name of 'Atheism' and 'Scientific Socialism'." (At the names of which buzzards barf.)

PS: As far as the "great patriotic war" and the Russian people helping to defeat Hitler

is concerned, well, would there have BEEN a WW2 if Communist Russia hadn't signed a non-aggression pact with Hitler in 1938/1939 in exchange for half of Poland, so Hitler could feel secure in attacking Poland, France, the low countries, and England without worrying about having to fight a "two front war??" That was the deed of Stalin, spiritual successor to Lenin.

Let's remember that the Communist USSR continued to collaborate with Nazi Germany, ship them strategic war materials, exchanged technical data with them (The Nazi paratroops were intially trained in the USSR,) they didn't have a problem working with Nazis or having the Communist parties in the US and the UK agitate for "peace in our time" (much like the peace-hateniks today) and against the War--it was only when the Nazis sneak-attacked the USSR and they had no choice in the matter that they threw in with the allies.

And then it was the partriotism of the Russian people, and their courage, and not Communism or the "Party of Lenin" that defeated Hitler.

Lenin: Another Hitler and mass-murderer, for sure, learn some history!!

Actually, I do know a great deal of Russian history, as I studied the language, culture & history for years (my major was Slavic Languages). I never said that Lenin was some great and peaceful leader. Yes, his regime took power through bloodshed, etc. Never stated that they didn't...but I also know that some of the 'history' we've learned here was 'adapted' to meet our own political dogma at the time. We could go on and on about Russian/Soviet history and probably find nothing to debate. However, Rumsfeld would have been much more correct in comparing Stalin to Hitler - but then, I kind of wonder if he knows the difference...

Besides, my main point for posting this was that Rumsfeld, and most of the rest of the current administration, have no diplomacy skills at all. They don't know when to keep their darn mouths shut, or when they do open them, how NOT to shove their feet down their throats. Personally, Bush = Genghis Khan and Rumsfeld = Jabba the Hut sounds pretty apt to me. ;-)

Pretty Much said what I would have, although it ISN'T *P.C.* to agree anyone who agrees with the President OR anything else that is in the Republican stance seeing as to how the GOP has control of the house, senate and *GASSSSSPPPPPPP* the white house, guess I will have to wait until we have to sit through another few years of a Democrat in office before I purposely misspell "Democrat" AND all other antics that 'they' supposedly 'pull', but *that* would be beneath me now, wouldn't it?

Why no mention of Pol Pot one of the biggest mass murderers and leader of one of the most brutal regimes in history, Lenin, Saddam, were choir boys by comparison.

Agreed.

As an aside...secretshopper would really hate Seattle. There's an area called Fremont that has an actual statue of Lenin that was bought and brought here from Moscow after the disintegration of the Soviet Union! LOL! But then, Fremont has a lot of interesting & thought provoking art, etc. :-)

Hardly surprising that Seattle honors a murderer like Lenin. Aren't they one of the HQ's of the "skinhead movement" too?? (And the "green" thug-anti-globalizers" who smash Starbucks' and MacDonalds?)

What's "thought provoking" about that?

LOL!!!
