I think he should have received a life sentence.

I have come to oppose the death penalty in most cases on financial reasons. A while back,in Ohio, we had a guy who wanted to be executed and resisted all appeals. It cost the state $1.5 million to execute him. The drugs themselves to execute him cost under $90. For some reason a death penalty case costs quite a bit more to prosecute than a life imprisonment case. According to an article in the local paper it would have cost $750 thousand to try and imprison him for life which was estimated at 40 years. If he had exhausted the appeals process it would have cost $2 - 2.5 million.

It's kinda like why divorce your cheating spouse when you can stay married and make their life miserable?

Peace.

Oddly enough, I am upset about it.

While I can understand why (we were back in DC during the last week of terror...they arrested him & Malvo right before we left), it wouldn't have been what I would have chosen.

IMHO, life in prison without the chance of ever receiving parole would have been my choice.

I politely disagree with your post. Barbaric *was* his style of murdering innocent people, thoughtless, cold and without *any* remorse. It doesn't really matter, though B/C he'll appeal again and again.

I'm sure that I'll be critized for MO, *but* that's the way I stand.

I never could understand why it is good to murder people who murder people to prove that murdering people is wrong! It makes me sad that we as a society are now lowered to his level.

First of all, not criticizing - it's your opinion.

But, I would like to ask one question.

I just don't have an opinion one way or the other; just glad it wasn't my decision to make. I am sorry for those jurors. Of course, we can't undo the acts, but if it helps the survivors to handle their grief than that's a sufficient reason for me. According to one brother, there will always be a hole in his heart, but knowing that JM paid the ultimate price helps.
