With a trio of guilty verdicts yesterday, the U.N. tribunal for Rwanda has established that men armed only with words can commit genocide.

NPR had a good story on it yesterday, too.

If you read the horrific case in question, I cannot believe that you would make such a flippant remark.

Their actions went beyond 'hate speech'.

It was a case of the media using its power to deliberately incite hatred and murder.

I wouldn't denigrate it by calling it hate speech. It's more on the lines of how the Nazi manipulated the media for their own purposes.

I think it's an important acknowledgement of the responsibility the media has in most societies today and that they can be held culpable for misusing their power in such an immoral way.

I wasn't kidding!

"We should invade their countries, kill their leaders and convert them to Christianity. We weren't punctilious about locating and punishing only Hitler and his top officers. We carpet-bombed German cities; we killed civilians. That's war. And this is war."

--Ann Coulter

Is it me or is she calling on America to kill Muslim civilians, to commit a war crime? Or is this supposed to be a joke?

Then you're just being foolish.

Why? "Of the Rawandan "journalists" you just said "It was a case of the media using its power to deliberately incite hatred and murder. "

Isn't Coulter in violation of the UN covenant cited in the article you posted?

"The U.N. International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, drafted in 1966 and ratified by 151 nations including the United States, says: "Any advocacy of national racial or religious hatred that constitutes incitement to discrimination, hostility or violence shall be prohibited by law."

She is advocating both racial AND religious hatred, (which is fully protected as free speech) but then she incites violence. She urges Americans to stamp out Islam, and kill civilians.

Did you listen to the NPR story? These were not hothead commentators spouting off sarcastically.

Your link to the NPR story didn't work. In her column this week, Ms. Coulter says it's okay to murder abortion doctors and calls for the end of the judicial branch of government. Is that sarcasm? I'm pretty sure that the Rwandans started out as "hothead commentators" and then found a bunch of murderous people who really liked what they were saying.

Methinks you need to stop talking about what you assume and find out about what actually happended.
