Now this is REALLY disgusting...

How about a 3D art implant? It's another nifty form of body modification (a catch-all that encompasses tattoos, piercings, branding and "scarification") and involves placing an object under the skin to create a design on the skin's surface.

I blame it on Star Trek. Seriously, though, those things are metal? I assume not many frequent flyers have taken up this trend, and would be curious to find out what the procedure is for airline screeners dealing with this sort of thing. The silicone implants would be a much better way to get plastic explosives on a plane than stuffing it in a shoe.

If anyone is interested in tongue piercing:

No one's saying it should be outlawed. We're making personal judgements about it. Jeesh!

In my opinion:

People who spend half of their paycheck on their car are idiots.

People who can't be bothered to set a good example for their children are bad parents.

People who split their tongue and implant metal 'art' under their skin have some serious issues going on.

Who's claiming it should be outlawed?

I don't care what people do their own bodies, as long as they aren't forced into it. Perhaps they find some sort of higher spiritual connection in body modification. Who knows.

Ofcourse people have a choice to 'decorate' their bodies as they wish. I just wonder what sort of character it takes to want to look like a devil, a lizard or have lumps under their skin.

Something I'll never understand, I think. On the other hand, I can remember a point in my life when I thought eyebrow and lip piercings were strange...

It's not a question of not being able to desensitize yourself to something you find repulsive or not becoming comfortable with something that first seems foreign.

It's a question of what do you want to desensitize yourself to.
