I thought it might be a good idea to post any 'recalls' we come across that may affect our members. Just a 'heads up' kind of thing. So, as I run across them, I'll pull this thread back up in an attempt to keep them all together...please post any relevant recalls you may come across here as well! Thanks!

Kyocera Smartphone batteries recalled
THE ASSOCIATED PRESS
WASHINGTON -- Kyocera Wireless Corp. recalled approximately 140,000 batteries in its Smartphone cell phones on Friday because the batteries can short-circuit or erupt with force and heat, posing a burn hazard to users.
Kyocera has received four reports of battery failures, and one report of a burn caused by a cell phone overheating and bursting in the user's pocket, according to Scott Wolfson, spokesman for the Consumer Product Safety Commission.
The recalled batteries are included in Kyocera model 7135 Smartphone cell phones. The black and silver flip-up phones say "Kyocera" at the top of the screen. The recalled batteries have the red and white Kyocera logo printed on the front and a product code ending in -05 printed on the underside.
Phones with the -05 batteries were sold at Verizon Wireless, US Cellular and ALLTEL Corporation stores, on the Kyocera Web site and through telemarketing retailers nationwide between September and December. The phones sold for about $500. The batteries sold separately for about $21.
Consumers are advised to stop using the cell phone batteries immediately. Once removed, the batteries should be stored away from flammable materials. Kyocera will contact consumers to arrange for the delivery of a free replacement battery. If consumers have not been contacted by the company by Feb. 6, they should call Kyocera to get a replacement.
Kyocera can be reached toll-free at 1-800-349-4478 between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. PST, Monday through Friday. Information is also posted on the company's Web site at www.kyocera-wireless.com.
Wolfson also urged cell phone users not to keep their phones in the same pocket as their keys and other metal objects that can cause a short circuit.
The batteries were manufactured for Kyocera by Coslight International Group, of Hong Kong.

Pennsylvania company recalls meat
THE ASSOCIATED PRESS
WASHINGTON -- A Pennsylvania company is recalling about 52,000 pounds of ready-to-eat meats that may be contaminated with listeria, a germ that can cause serious food poisoning.
No illnesses have been reported, the Agriculture Department said Wednesday. Georgia state officials detected listeria on a deli meat product by Vincent Giordano Corp.
The company, based in Philadelphia, is recalling 16 varieties of pastrami, corned beef and roast beef from stores nationwide. The meats were produced between Dec. 11 and Dec. 15, 2003, and were packaged on Dec. 16, 2003. Each of the products is marked with the code "EST. 5397" inside USDA inspection seal. The products under recall also carry the date code "350."
A complete list of the products is available at the USDA's Food Safety and Inspection Service Web site: http://www.fsis.usda.gov/oa/recalls/prelease/pr003-2004.htm.
Listeria can cause listeriosis, a rare but potentially fatal disease. Symptoms include high fever, severe headache and nausea.
Consumers with questions about the recall can call Bruce Belack, the company's vice president of sales, at 1-215-467-6629.

THE ASSOCIATED PRESS
WASHINGTON -- Hormel Foods is recalling about 104,000 pounds of Stagg canned chili from stores in 16 states because it may contain plastic and other material, the Agriculture Department said Wednesday.
Department officials said the pieces of plastic came from a calculator.

The chili was made on Nov. 24, 2003, and distributed to retail stores in these states: Arizona, California, Colorado, Kentucky, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Mexico, Nevada, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Utah and Wisconsin.
The chili was sold in 15-ounce cans labeled, "Stagg Chili, Steak House Reserve, Chili with Beans, Hearty Beef with a Kick of Green Chilies." The cans were sold six to a case.
The cans and cases bear product codes "S112434," "S112435" or "S114236." They also are marked "Est. 199C" inside the USDA inspection mark.

GM recalls 1.8 million cars.
As a cl's we get the first level of the premium features iV offers. Along with being able to show graphics there's a spell check, font sizes, colours, a set signature. Other features are pop-up blockers, which I don't use have my own. It's kind of fun using the graphics. This first level feature is a very cheap yearly fee, sorry I'm not being more helpful.
I did a search to find where you can sign-up but couldn't find the info. I have emailed a CM about the info., so should hear back sometime after the w'end.
