Ex-U.S. Arms Hunter Kay Says No Stockpiles in Iraq
2 hours, 35 minutes ago
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - David Kay, who stepped down as leader of the U.S. hunt for weapons of mass destruction, said on Friday he does not believe there were any large stockpiles of chemical and biological weapons in Iraq (news - web sites).
"I don't think they existed," Kay told Reuters in a telephone interview. "What everyone was talking about is stockpiles produced after the end of the last (1991) Gulf War and I don't think there was a large-scale production program in the '90s," he said.
Kay said he believes most of what is going to be found in search for weapons of mass destruction in Iraq has been found and that hte hunt will become more difficult once America turns over governing the country to the Iraqis.
The United States went to war against Baghdad last year citing a threat from Iraq's weapons of mass destruction. No actual banned arms have been found.

Yes the timing is very 'convenient'.
They do report news.

"We are not talking about a large stockpile of weapons," he said. "But we know from some of the interrogations of former Iraqi officials that a lot of material went to Syria before the war, including some components of Saddam's WMD programme. Precisely what went to Syria, and what has happened to it, is a major issue that needs to be resolved."

So I suppose we are off to Syria if Bush is reelected? Then if Syria moved the WMD then we will move to another part of the world? Hopefully, the democrats will unite and send that man on a one way ticket back to Crawford,TX(as Kerry stated).
"Ex-U.S. Arms Hunter Kay Says No Stockpiles in Iraq because they're in Syria."
But Kay has been very clear that he does not believe there are ANY stockpiles because he says there was no large production of weapons after the Gulf War. He says that "materials" and "components" may have been moved to Syria. (I don't know why he's only telling the Telegraph this...) I think we're all schooled enough by now in WMD-speak that "materials" and "components" are not the same as stockpiles or weapons. President Bush would not have convinced America to launch a preventive war based on some centrifuges, pipes, and petri dishes.

He isn't but the media in the US sometimes will get selective hearing impairment.
Read some of the text of his report, and you will see that many of the answers to your questions can be found there.
He does say it is doubtful that there were stockpiles of weapons, but he has no doubt that the programs existed and that whatever was there was shipped to Syria. Some fear that the nuclear materials that Iraq supposedly had were shipped off to Syria as well.
Lets hope not on that front.
