Yes I know we've discussed this subject, of WMD, to death, but it is "In the News" that both Blair & Bush are starting inquires.

Bush to pick panel for WMD inquiry.   Flag 3

President Bush said Monday he would appoint a presidential commission to review U.S. intelligence on the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction in Iraq.

Responding to political pressure, Bush told report ers at a Cabinet meeting he wanted to look at prewar intelligence and the findings of the Iraq Survey Group -- the U.S. team hunting for weapons programs in the country.

"We also want to look at our war against proliferation and weapons of mass destruction in a broader context," Bush said. "So I'm putting together an independent, bipartisan commission to analyze where we stand, what we can do better as we fight this war against terror."

Blair orders Iraq WMD inquiry.  United Kingdom

British Prime Minister Tony Blair has decided to hold an inquiry into intelligence used to justify going to war with Iraq.

Blair had been under growing pressure to launch an investigation of intelligence reports on Saddam Hussein's weapons of mass destruction after U.S. President George W. Bush signaled a U.S. inquiry.

Until now, Blair has firmly resisted calls for an inquiry, although no banned weapons have been found months after the Iraqi leader was toppled.

Before the war, Blair stated that Iraq was a "serious and current" threat and that it had continued to produce chemical and biological weapons.

I hope that both Bush and Blair allow the commissions to go about their investigation without any political influence much in the way David Kaye was allowed to handle his job.

>> The democratic frontrunner, John Kerry, accused Mr Bush of trying to revise his rationale for war. "This is a far cry from what the president and his administration told the American people through 2002," Mr Kerry said.

"Back then President Bush repeatedly told the American people that Saddam Hussein has got chemical weapons. They told us they could deploy these weapons within 45 minutes to injure our troops. It was on that basis that he sent America's sons and daughters off to war."

I love how Kerry is spinning this. The one thing you will never see the mainstream media question him on why he voted to use military force when he saw exactly the same information that the President did. I guess they don't want to paint him into a corner, and the Kerry camp is not able to have a "pre-arranged" heckler in the audience to question him on this one.

If John Kerry is the "man" that he pretends to be, he should admit that he too made an error in judgement based on the faulty intelligence, but then again he can't because he is part of the reason that the intelligence is faulty to begin with. He voted 8 times to cut funding to the CIA, especially for human intelligence assets.

I guess 12 years wasn't long enough, so Blix wanted another 6 months.

The argument holds no water. It would have if Hussein was cooperating even slightly before we began to amass our military forces close to his borders. He was playing a cat and mouse game with the US and the UN, and his bluff was called.

With hindsight being what it was, if there truly was nothing to hide, why did Hussein continue to play cutsie with the inspectors, only allowing a certain number in his country at any one time, and having them have to give a list of the sites they wanted to visit prior to the inspections.

When he backed off on the inspection list, he had "contacts" within the French intelligence community notifying him of the sites that the weapons inspectors were going to visit two days in advance.
