I am happy to see that we are doing something!

FALLUJAH, Iraq - Hundreds of U.S. and Iraqi troops in tanks, trucks and other vehicles surrounded the turbulent city of Fallujah on Monday ahead of a major operation against insurgents blamed for the grisly slayings of four American security contractors last week.

U.S. commanders have been vowing a massive response to pacify Fallujah, one of the most violent cities in the Sunni Triangle, the heartland of the anti-U.S. insurgency north and west of Baghdad.

A statement Saddam must have uttered often.

There appears to be confusion in the meaning of the word.........

Respect: http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=respect

Deference: http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=deference

WHAT??? Let me explain to you what a bully is. They strike first, hitting targets they believe to have a weak will. We were hit first - unprovoked.

We gave Saddam every chance to comply with 12 very strongly worded UN resolutions. He believed we had a weak will and refused to comply. We no longer have a weak will as they are now finding out. If we had let the threats that we (and the pansy UN) made pass with no action - this proves a weak will.

AND - If we had not responded to this most recent atrocity we would prove to be weak in their eyes. We will no longer be bullied. I think that we are getting this point (finally) across.

It seems that I have used the word "respect" correctly according to definition #2. Thanks for proving that for me.

I don't disagaree that you think they are the evil villian. My point is what do they think. In order to understand a situation, you have to look it from several POV. Obviously, you don't agree--fine.

Well that's a stretch! This has nothing to do with respecting

The only thing that will deter these fanatics is force. Unless of course we should all decide to don burkas and practice religous fanaticism. Which do you choose?

If we do nothing, they have proven that they will come over here and murder our innocents. Do you prefer that option?

So why do you obey? Because there will be consequences if you do not. Thank you for making this more clear.

I *am* looking at it from their pov. They think we are weak so they bully us. That is their pov. I have done quite a bit of research on this.
