FALLUJAH, Iraq - Hundreds of U.S. and Iraqi troops in tanks, trucks and other vehicles surrounded the turbulent city of Fallujah on Monday ahead of a major operation against insurgents blamed for the grisly slayings of four American security contractors last week.

U.S. commanders have been vowing a massive response to pacify Fallujah, one of the most violent cities in the Sunni Triangle, the heartland of the anti-U.S. insurgency north and west of Baghdad.

Has the fact that we invaded their country first escape you? What they did was evil beyond words. Violence begets violence.

Where are you getting your facts from? We did not have to invade Iraq. If Bush had half a brain he would have finished with OBL; a real threat. Maybe Saddam did have some sort of weapon system that he used against his people but if we decided to overthrow every goverment on Human Rights violations then why aren't we in China yet? We need to concentrate on the real threat. Finding Bin Laden. We are in a mess now in Iraq now with unrest all over the place. We can't just march into a country on the whim of Bush and expect that everyone will welcome us. As you can see that is not the case. How many more of our soldiers need to lose thier lives for this? 13 today alone. Shameful

Americans so are not understanding who the Extremist Muslim Iraq's are, they will keep doing exactly what they have been doing no matter who is President of the United States. They hate us and everything we stand for, they are doing this in the name of GOD. They think they are totally justified and will gain favor from GOD.

"The forces have cordoned off the city," Rumsfeld said during a news briefing with NATO Secretary-General Jaap de Hoop Scheffer at a NATO seminar.

"They have photographs of a good many people who were involved in the attacks against the individuals and they have been conducting raids in the city against high-value targets," Rumsfeld said.

"They have captured a number of people over the last 36 hours," he said. "The city is isolated. A number of people have resisted and been killed."

"And it will be a methodical effort to find the individuals who were involved," he said.
