FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

ATTACK ON MARINES NEAR MOSQUE

FALLUJAH, Iraq - U.S. Marines observed anti-Coalition Forces today firing from the Haj Musheen Abdul Aziz Az-Kubaysi mosque complex in Fallujah. In order to gain access to the compound housing the mosque, Marines used air support to breach a wall located several hundred yards away from the actual mosque structure. One anti-Coalition force member was killed in the attack. There is no report of civilian casualties.

Marines on the ground observed no damage to the mosque. The anti-coalition forces firing from the mosque wrongfully violated the law of war by conducting offensive military operations from a protected structure. As a result, the mosque lost its protected status and therefore became a lawful military target. Nevertheless, the Marines only targeted the wall surrounding the compound in order to prevent damage to the mosque.

Initial reports indicate a platoon-size force was firing RPGs and small arms from fortified battle positions inside of and on top of the mosque. Following the strike, Marines also recovered a fully functional mortar from inside the compound.

This mosque was repeatedly used as a base to target Iraqi and Coalition forces throughout the day. The breach of the wall was a graduated response to the threat.

I Marine Expeditionary Force will continue to employ precision weaponry in order to protect lives of non-combatants, private property, medical facilities, and religious structures in accordance with the law of war.

I assumed that Kennedy and the enemy felt the same way because they both SAY THE SAME THINGS! Here's something else they have in common: Kennedy wants our soliers to die to regain power. The enemy want our soliers to die to regain power...

"Disagreeing" with the administration at a time of war in such a public way endangers the lives of our soldiers, and I believe that is the goal of the leadership, to endanger the lives of our military for political gain. I don't believe the average person feels this way, I only think that it is easy to follow their lead unwittingly.

Then please stop trying to label all liberals with the sick actions of a VERY FEW (and to be honest, I would like to see some facts behind these allegations).

How about some facts to back up that nonsense.

'No, they are actively trying to make it happen. The main thing that distresses the left is being out of power. It distresses them to the point that they actively try to bring down their own country at a time of war. If large numbers of Americans die, this is good for the left wing, so they not only hope, but aid in making that happen. It is extremely shocking and repulsive.'

Talk about repulsive.

How do you know this? Can we please have some facts to back that up.

'Kennedy wants our soliers to die to regain power. The enemy want our soliers to die to regain power... '

You and I disagree about Senator Kennedy. I believe he knows full well that his comments at a time of war embolden the enemy and encourage them to be more vigilant in killing our soldiers. The greater numbers of dead Americans, the better the chances for the left wing to gain power. I know it sounds horrible, but I believe with all my heart that this is the way it is.

I never said that anyone had to agree with this administration *I* don't agree with this administration on many issues. It is a fact, though, that when the public appears to be publically against our military's mission - the enemy is emboldened- and our young men in uniform die in greater numbers. And this left-wing leadership is trying their best to convince the public to turn against the mission. Hopefully most of the public will not follow their lead and be more careful with the lives of our men in uniform.

I am not trying to label *all* liberals. I told you, I am liberal myself on most social issues. I agree that there are also sick individuals on the extreme right. I think extremism is wrong for *anything*.

I will also agree that the GOP is interested in power, but I disagree that they would *ever* root against our country on *any* national defense issue. When President Clinton committed our men to war the Republicans *did not* publicly question his actions and try to get our young men killed. They have never done this and hopefully they never will.

If you will notice, these men were not attacking the mission. They commented that the action was just. They only attacked Clinton and his motives. The military was never attacked by the Republicans.

"Clinton must have bombed Iraq to avoid impeachment, because "how else to explain the sudden appearance of a backbone that has been invisible up to now?" (Solomon). (That's a valid point btw., but it is clear that his opinion was that the job had long needed to be done.)

"President Clinton has indelibly associated a justified military response ... with his own wrongdoing." (Notice the word "JUSTIFIED"). The enemy knew it was agreed the military response was needed.

"It is dangerous for an American president to launch a military strike, however justified, at a time when many will conclude he acted only out of narrow self-interest to forestall or postpone his own impeachment" Again, consistant with the use of the word "JUSTIFIED" so that the enemy knew the country was on board.

The mission was not challenged by the Republicans - Clinton's motives were. The enemy always knew that the nation wasn't turning against the war effort. Nothing to embolden the enemy like today's .
