9/11 Families Slam Hearings

Forty relatives of 9/11 victims are slamming the so-called independent investigation into the Sept. 11 attacks, saying that too many on the panel are using the probe to "grandstand for political gain" in a bid to damage President Bush in an election year.

In an open letter released to the New York Post on Tuesday, the 9/11 relatives blamed the commission for fostering "the incredible notion" that President Bush knew 9/11 was coming and did nothing.

"I see the commission going partisan and that's not the way it's supposed to be. If it does that, it will be nothing but a political disgrace," former United Firefighters Association chief Jimmy Boyle, whose firefighter son Michael died on 9/11, told the paper.

Instead, said Boyle, Bush deserved praise for the way he's conducted the war on terror since 9/11, saying, "It's a whole new world as of Sept. 12 and I believe President Bush is the right man."

The letter also praised National Security Advisor Condoleezza Rice, saying: "We believe Dr. Rice when she says that the president 'would have moved heaven and earth' to prevent a terrorist attack had he known such an attack on our homeland was imminent. Any suggestion otherwise is incredible and inflammatory."

Interesting interview last night on the O'Reilly Factor, where a woman, who's brother was the pilot of the plane that crashed into the Pentagon.

She said she voted for Clinton twice, and voted for Al Gore, but has since shifted her support to GWB as she is sickened by how this commission is being used as a tactic to attack Bush for his "failings" on 9/11, when this is not the purpose of the commission.

Some, on the Democratic side are trying to make this the blame game, as are some on the Republican side, but it appears as though the Democrats that are playing the blame game, are using this as a way to get Bush elected out of office in November. This may actually come back to haunt them.

I'm not sure that these hearings are going to end up meaning enough to anybody to make any difference one way or the other. I think most people who began somewhat interested in them are quickly losing interest after its becoming more and more obvious to everyone that the intention is purely political rather than getting to (or caring about) the truth. It's nothing more than a circus of finger pointing and partisanship.

I have friends who lost loved ones on 9-11. They are all solidly behind the president. Former Democratic mayor of New York, Ed Coch, too. Dennis Miller switched alliances due to this event. 9-11 changed America forever. My dad has always been a yellow dog and he will be voting for president Bush this time. I believe there are going to be a lot of quiet Democrats who will be voting for the president this time, they just don't talk about it because it's considered such a taboo.

Dennis Miller switched "sides" long before 9-11.

>> I think it is quite sad that so many in this country will blindly vote for Bush and support Bush because he was President when we were attacked. I think too many people in this country pay way too little attention to the world around them.

I think it sad that many in this country would actually cast a vote for John Kerry without knowing what the man truly stands for.

LOL, let me see if I've got this correct: blue dogs are conservative democrats and yellow dogs are liberal democrats--what kind of dog is a centrist democrat? Politics is just too complicated for me.

I will be voting for John Kerry because I agree with a LOT more of his positions than I do Bush.

Why dont you state your positions, and run for office?

It appears as though you are more evenhanded than the current hacks we have in Washington?

I dont like Kerry because he is leftist extreme, and I am disappointed with Bush because he ran as a moderate, but is looking for light a right wing extremist.

I wish that candidate Bush would come out from the shell of President Bush.
