But Hannity, who was on hand to promote his book "Deliver Us From Evil," would have none of it.
"Let's talk about critics and the question of whether he owns up to mistakes," Holt began. "Has he made mistakes in the war on terror?"
"Why should he apologize, number one, for the terrorist attack that was brought to this country?" Hannity shot back.
"We've got to face reality here - America is at war and they attacked us," the conservative host reminded, noting that critics of Bush's handling of the war on terror seem to want it both ways.
"We're criticizing the president for not responding to a memo five weeks . But yet we knew that Saddam wasn't abiding by 17 resolutions in 12 years' period of time. And he didn't abide by a cease-fire agreement."
Hannity told "Today" that had Bush allowed Saddam to remain in power and his continued efforts to obtain weapons of mass destruction resulted in an attack on the U.S., "would we not have a commission a year and a half later" blaming Bush for ignoring the threat.
Holt complained that Hannity's scenario was "theoretical."
Just like the August 2001 Presidential Daily Briefing that warned Osama bin Laden wanted to attack America.

I think that people who are looking for an apology for 9/11, don't blame our goverment and know the Osma did this. But I think that they are looking for a "Sorry" for not picking up the signs, "Sorry" for allowing these people to come onto American soil and hurt the innocent.
Bush is this country's leader, and as this country's leader he has a duty to take responsbilty of this nation and his advisor's.
Please answer this post. I would like to know your honest opinion.
Regan owes one for helping put Osma in his postion of power. And also for putting Saddam in power.
Ditto on Bush Sr.
There were alot of breakdowns in the goverment and the Presidnt is the leader of them all. Current and past president's need to stand up and take the blame for allowing years and years of this. Not to mention the years that these people were are allies. People tend to forget that we helped Osma in Afganistan during the Russian Invasion. People also forget that we helped Saddam over throw the previous goverment in Iraq.
Now I ask you..Can the convervative front admit to there to mistakes? Can they admit that they put these people in power? Can they admit that they had faulty intellegence to go to war in Iraq? Could they answer the latter with a follow up, if no WMD would we still have gone in to Iraq? They haven't and they won't answer, if they do answer it then I will eat crow.
Some are so blinded by partisanship (which is another problem in this country as many politicians are blinded by it as well) that we truly as a nation can never come together, as there will always be detractors on the extreme left and extreme right.
Past presidents had very good and *informed* reasons for doing what they did. In hindsight, yes, there were mistakes. But those "mistakes" were not viewed as mistakes pre-911. It will take hours and hours for me to explain this all to you, which I can do but it would be very complicated and frankly I don't think most would take the time to really read it.
Most people today depend on "soundbites" from their "side" to form what they believe because they are too busy to take the time to find out what really happened. I can tell from your post that your "side" told you that Reagan put OBL in power without mentioning that OSB was fighting our mutual enemy the communist Soviet Union's advancement into Afghanistan. The ramifications of a Soviet win there would have been incredible. To shorten and simplify things, I must mention that Reagan eventually DEFEATED the Soviet Union and won the cold war. Please take some time and research some of the information you receive. Much of it is nothing more than half-truth propaganda.
And I don't know WHERE you heard that we helped Saddam overthrow the previous government in Iraq!!! This is not even a half-truth. Please check your sources. I am interested in knowing who would toss out anything so wild as that out there.
And - there WERE WMD in Iraq. This is a proven fact. We do not know what became of them at this point (which really leaves me nervous). The UN knew he had them. There was a defector in 1995 who disclosed the extent of them - ONLY at that time did Hussain ADMIT that he had them. He kicked out the inspectors FOR YEARS and suddenly they dissapeared. The leftists claim that out of principal Saddam disposed of these weapons secretly. Most informed people worry that they have fallen into the wrong hands - which is exactly what we were trying to avoid when we went in. It looks like now that we didn't go in soon enough.
I think the thing is that many people who are looking for the apology are singling out President Bush, when there is equal blame to be handed to President Clinton for the same failings.
Initially, Iraq advanced far into Iranian territory, but was driven back within months. By mid-1982, Iraq was on the defensive against Iranian human-wave attacks. The U.S., having decided that an Iranian victory would not serve its interests, began supporting Iraq: measures already underway to upgrade U.S.-Iraq relations were accelerated, high-level officials exchanged visits, and in February 1982 the State Department removed Iraq from its list of states supporting international terrorism. (It had been included several years earlier because of ties with several Palestinian nationalist groups, not Islamicists sharing the worldview of al-Qaeda. Activism by Iraq's main Shiite Islamicist opposition group, al-Dawa, was a major factor precipitating the war -- stirred by Iran's Islamic revolution, its endeavors included the attempted assassination of Iraqi Foreign Minister Tariq Aziz.)
My sound bites come from Research. I listen to sound bites and then research them to make sure the facts are correct.
I have not insulted you, please do not insult me or my intelligence.
I understand that people make mistakes, one evil over another, whom to choose? I think that we can make an informed observation that they chose wrong.
Again I understand that we do make mistakes, Lets own up to those mistakes. The problem that I have with this administration is that it "rules" don't apply to everyone. Example the Iraq war, we are there because of the WMD and because he has harbored terrorist's. According to Bush we won't tollerate any nation harboring terrorist's. Why haven't we invaded Saudi? We know that half of the 9/11 highjackers were Saudi citizens? Bush only knows the answer to this, I can speculate and that speculation is because it is not in the best interest of the US to go after those in Saudi.
