The investigation on how Iraqi yellowcake turned up in European scrap metal has been uncovering more interesting things:

Large amounts of nuclear-related equipment, some of it contaminated, and a small number of missile engines have been smuggled out of Iraq for recycling in European scrap yards, according to the head of the United Nations' nuclear watchdog and other U.N. diplomats...

Didn't you already post about this awhile ago? Not the identical article but the same news.

I did a search, could find it. Don't tell me I'm dreaming about this board!

Interesting development.

I wonder if the investigation into this will reveal anything further.

Several months ago I posted the initial story about Iraqi yellowcake turning up in European scrap metal. While that story didn't get much attention around here, except for a couple of yawns, it prompted the IAEA to launch an investigation which has now determined that entire nuclear related buildings in Iraq have disappeared and thier parts are turning up in European scrap metal. While it's unclear at this point, if this activity was a deliberate effort to hide illegal activities or looting, ElBaradei is concerned because, "In any event these activities may have a significant impact on the agency's continuity of knowledge of Iraq's remaining nuclear-related capabilities and raise concern with regards to the proliferation risk associated with dual use material and equipment disappearing to unknown destinations."

I guess he isn't as sanguine about dual use equipment as many Democrats seem to be.
