Sometimes I have to wonder...

Why I or anyone else would associate myself with individuals like this by referring to myself as a Republican, moderate or otherwise. For that matter, referring to myself as an American if this reflects typical sentiments on the subject...

http://forums.delphiforums.com/USpatriots/messages?msg=4234.16

Bear in mind that this diatribe was the result of my commenting that his attitude and desired actions toward people in Iraq (specifically the prisoners abused by American personnel, which he feel SHOULD be subjected to whatever abuse we can invent) would only lower us to the same level as those he despises so strongly (those who have abused American prisoners at times). I also noted that we as Americans and members of the world community need to hold ourselves to a higher standard that those we criticize on the basis of their treatment of their citizens and their prisoners. His response to that observation was to lock me out of the board, preventing any further discussion of that or any other issue.

Given that forum moderators on Delphi have unilateral control of their boards, I don't see why anyone would want to participate there, including myself on that or any other Delphi forum from this point forward. Just a heads-up for anyone considering getting involved there.

Oh, I understand that the video is gruesome beyond words, no argument there. And I can see where it might push some individuals over the edge. The problem here is that the sentiments expressed in that post to me were *already* there, had been since the beginning of that thread. It initially began a couple of days previously, when the first court-martial of a US servicemember was announced. The poster went off from the first word, saying that we were justified in doing whatever we wanted to to Iraqi prisoners based on their actions toward us.

So as much as I might want to write this off as a stress-induced aberation because of that murder, I can't. He knew exactly what he was saying from the very beginning, long before this decapitation became publicly known or the tape publicly released. He's simply whacked out, and appears determined to dismiss any contrary opinions on HIS board. And if posters such as myself point out certain things, we're unilaterally banned from participation. So not only has he dismissed my observations, he's made it so that he doesn't even have to see contrary opinions.

Actually guys, it was "immoral liberal, lowlife scumbag", as if his little diatribes show the slightest inkling of morality themselves. I think he may have taken it personally when I pointed that out to him. But as for the label itself, as Lea noted below that's probably the greatest insult possible in his warped little world. That it's hypocritical as hell will never register with him or them.

I'm sorry, but what was that again? >>>"The ones run by libs are Nazi like."<<<

The forum I was unceremoniously and unilaterally kicked out of for an totally unappreciated but objective observation was run by Conservatives, not only that but highly *religious* and MORAL conservatives who were advocating some very Nazi-esque treatment of Iraqi prisoners. So I myself would hesitate before attributing Nazi-like behavior to any one group, as nobody evidently has a monopoly on it.

And no, except for now TWO Delphi forums (one run by rabid conservatives, the other by rabid liberals) I haven't been banned from any online debate/discussion board. I guess moderate and/or objective opinions and observations aren't to be tolerated in many fora.

As this is somewhat an OT thread may I ask the origin/reason behind your screen name?

Curious.
